The Operational Process & Controls team is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Key Process and Controls program required to manage the primary functions of Schwab Technology Services’ organization (STS). This team has ownership of the framework that focuses on aligning IT services with the needs of business. This framework includes processes, procedures, tasks, and checklists which are not organization-specific, but can be applied across the entire technology organization. Our team provides STS with a baseline from which it can plan, implement, and measure. We are currently working with ITIL and COBIT frameworks. While a robust control framework is part of an effective “1st Line of Defense”, it must also promote effective and efficient technology operations that fully support the realization of Schwab’s strategic objectives.
The Business Analyst, Operational Processes will be part of a team that will work across STS to document and streamline processes, incorporate related controls and make processes easier to work with.
What you’ll do:
Analyze ITSM processesusing ITIL v3 as a best practice
Create value stream maps to analyze process steps to assist in identifying waste.
Assist in identifying opportunities to refine, replace or rebuild ineffective of incomplete processes and related controls, including opportunities for additional process automation.
Contribute to the design and establishment of metrics, measures and dashboards for monitoring and management of progress.
Play a role in the assessment and testing of key operational processes and controls
Develop metrics, measures and reporting to assess, measure and report on the effectiveness of key processes and controls.
Document processes, standards, procedures and policies.
Coordinate and track work in progress, schedule activities and provide status on work.
Prepare communications to provide a broad based understanding of the control framework and control effectiveness across the STS organization
Create and maintain an organizational website
Assist with development of IT policy, standards, practices and procedures documentation
What you have:
4+ years of experience as a business process or system analyst.
A passion for process improvement
Strong coordination skills, Agile/Scrum experience a plus.
Familiarity with ITIL v3, COBIT 5 and Lean.
Ability to translate a process to process\value stream maps using tools like VISIO or Igrafx.
Understanding process design, implementation and assessment.
Working knowledge of Confluence and sharepoint.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to analyze, identify and incorporate controls within processes.
Prior experience developing process metrics, gathering data and reporting.
