This Dallas area-based position reports to the Data Center Operations organization and will interface with internal colleagues and external technical partners. Scope of responsibility includes collaborative efforts across many of Schwab’s technology organizations (Distributed, Network, Storage, Mainframe, Workplace Technology and Infrastructure Architecture) including project management groups. The role will provide technical space design using DCIM tooling; vendor oversight and operational support for all structured cabling and physical infrastructure requirements, optimal hardware placement and environmental needs in technology rooms (Data Centers and Service Centers).
What you’ll do:
• Participate in project-related programming interviews across all technology platforms and facilities management groups to identify, interpret and translate IT hardware requirements from conceptual stage through deployment stage • Translate business and technology requirements into IT space design documents through extensive use of DCIM tool, Nlyte • Manage local ITAD-related functions to ensure that client data is protected and associated audit documentation is captured • Interface with General Contractor, MEP Engineering and Architectural firms as needed to represent organization’s design requirements for IT space.
What you have:
•Bachelor’s degree in IT related field, and/or equivalent technical experience •Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification desired or Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC) certification • Proficiency with DCIM software - preferably Nlyte. • Broad practical experience with data center and call center IT space design and deployment of technology components •Excellent client interfacing skills, strong verbal and written communication • Willingness to work a varied schedule considering travel and project requirements • Computer skills and the use of various business applications such as Nlyte, AutoCAD, Remedy, MS Project, and MS Office is required •Must have strong analytical skills • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems as they relate to technology spaces • Be able to manage contractor and vendor resources in order to meet project timelines and deliverables locally and remotely.
