Job Description

As our Chief Software Architect, you will be responsible for implementation of technologies strategies by partnering customers and with internal teams and leveraging a deep knowledge of cloud tools and products to address our customers’ needs and business problems. As the Chief Architect and strategic technology leader at GE, success will require working across functional, geographic, and business boundaries to foster synergistic communication and collaboration and create a more seamless end-user experience.

Reporting to the GM of Patient Care Solutions Digital, you will have the unique opportunity to work a portfolio of products and programs that better how our care is delivered to patients.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the overall design of healthcare applications and application platforms supporting clinical and operational use cases.

  • Define and build application development processes that enhances engineering consistency and efficiency of engineering development practices.

  • Lead cross-functional teams when architecting and implementing cloud solutions, automating cloud operations / deployment, programming, data platforms, machine learning (ML)/artificial intelligence (AI), cloud integration, and mobile solutions.

  • Define principles that guide technology decisions and the relationships between enterprise business context (industry and market trends) and specified technology.

  • Help engineering teams resolve application to platform integration issues for Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services

  • Partner with GE Healthcare internal and external stakeholders/resources to ensure cyber security readiness.

  • Develop and drive a technical community across the organization that fosters innovation, agile design and test methodology, flexible teaming, knowledge sharing and talent transformation.

  • Provide leadership, inspiration and guidance to a growing team fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation."

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience.

  • A minimum of 12 years of technical experience along with 6 years of experience leading multi-discipline technical teams, in a healthcare, life science, and/or similar regulated industry or software environment.

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience delivering data and analytics solutions which address internal/external customer challenges, including architecting as-a-service models.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the development and deployment of modern machine learning, as well as experience driving and executing cloud and digital technology strategies.

Desired Characteristics:

Technical Expertise:

  • Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS.

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.

  • Familiarity with common enterprise services (Directory Services, Information Assurance, Virtual Desktop, etc.), products (i.e., Oracle, SAP) and frameworks (ITIL, Zachman, TOGAF, etc.

  • Thorough understanding of ML, data analysis, data visualization, and event-driven architecture.

  • Cloud certifications or relevant experience required.

Business Acumen:

  • Cultivates a culture that proactively uses market data to drive growth. Continually monitors industry dynamics and market trends and anticipates how those trends will impact GE's and our customers' profitability.

  • Ability to articulate technology services in terms of business needs and opportunities, required.

  • Experience in strategic planning, management consulting, executive facilitation, digital innovation, business development, sales, and/or portfolio management.

Leadership:

  • Works with C-suite Business leadership to approve allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success.

  • Ensures enterprise-wide on-time delivery and architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.

  • Leads the development and execution of a communication and education plan for the enterprise architecture.

  • Ability to set / change direction at the enterprise level by building and using direct and ""behind the scenes"" support for ideas, uses chains of indirect influence.

Personal Attributes:

  • Defines strategy with C-suite business leaders and subject matter authorities and determines courses of action that will impact the enterprise.

  • Makes timely decisions that set enterprise-wide direction. Promotes a tolerance for high long-term risk that equates with significant returns on the investment.

  • Understands the business strategy and interconnects the overall business, software, internal and external strategies.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team or independently.

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $175,000.00-$325,000.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
