Overview
Job in a Nutshell:
The Bulk Production Lead position in manual and herb packaging is responsible for training and leading a team of 12 employees in the semi-automated production rooms. This position monitors daily schedules, efficiency, work quality, documentation, and adherence to Food Safety guidelines. The Production Lead position provides training, vacation relief, equipment troubleshooting, and any other duties under the direction of production management; Keeps management informed of daily activities and significant issues; Promotes a positive work environment by encouraging teamwork among production crews, maintenance, sanitation, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Main Ingredients:
Receives weekly production schedule; assists with creating daily schedules; distributes workload to team members
Maintains a team approach to production, and ensures all team members stay on task
Effectively communicates all production related concerns including schedule changes, staffing challenges, and support needs, to management
Ensures all team members meet company expectations including dress code, professionalism, punctuality
Participates in production process: Morning set-up, staging materials, loading hoppers, operating baggers and labelers, case packing and palletizing, confirming counts, verifying production logs are accurate
Assists with trouble shooting equipment including bagger, fillers and labelers
Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all orders filled
Ensures correct packaging materials are used, including bags, labels, trays, boxes
Ensures that work areas are kept clean and sanitary throughout the shift
Ensures work teams follow all SOP’s and food safety standards
Performs all operations in a manner that promotes safety
Tracks and trends daily production performance, including efficiencies, yields, and quality issues; provides weekly performance reports to management
Promotes the company culture
Assists in orientation, training, and coaching new and temporary employees
May be assigned to other production or warehouse duties as needed

Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility required; food production preferred
Experienced working with sanitary operating processes and knowledge of food safety/HACCP desirable
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing desirable
Knowledge of 5s (clutter free, efficient work environment) desirable
1 year of experience in a Lead or supervisory position, preferred
Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely required; bi-lingual a plus
Strong communication skills working with a diverse staff required
Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced team environment
Good attention to detail; accuracy and thoroughness is a must.
Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate production needs
Must be reliable and on time every day
Must be able to work in seasonally warm or cool environment
Forklift and electric pallet jack experience helpful
Willing and able to assist in other departments as needed
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Data Entry
SAP experience helpful

Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-50 lbs. and occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs.
Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 30 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 31-100 lbs.
Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
Must be able to frequently reach above chest.
Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.
Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and a congested worksite.
Must be able to work with occasionally work in noise, cold, heat, wet/humidity, outside, heights, and contact stress.
