HVAC Specialist

Status: Full -- Time, 40 hours per week

Schedule: M-F 8:00 - 4:30. On call for emergencies during weekends.

What you'll do

The HVAC Specialist is responsible for maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems as well as other related tasks.

  • Installs new HVAC units or replacement parts for existing HVAC units.     
  • Installs and repairs hydronic pumps, pipes, and fittings.
  • Establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks independently or in coordination with facility maintenance staff.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs control systems, including valves and air compressors.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs refrigeration equipment.
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Performs duties with the highest concern for working in and around resident's homes (i.e. noise, cleanliness).
  • Utilizes work order system to track hours and materials used.
  • Estimates materials, equipment, and labor hours to create quotes for projects.
  • Performs other tasks including but not limited to assisting the Lead Maintenance Tech., and assisting with grounds projects.

What it takes

  • Apprenticeship and/or formal training in HVAC and refrigeration work.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with HVAC.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted state of Michigan driver's license.
  • Must be able to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to a minimum of 50 lbs.
