General Information:

The Division of Student Affairs includes University Career Center, Center for Multicultural Student Services, Community Engagement and Volunteer Center, Counseling Center, Dean of Students, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices, Orientation and Transition, Residence Life, Student Life, University Health Center, Health Promotion, and University Recreation. Duties and Responsibilities:

#1: Serves as an ODS Associate Director for Technology and Exam Accommodation Services - Provide leadership and monitor the processes by which students access services in accessible media, assistive technology, exam services, and note taking - Lead in on-going management of areas supervised, including annual reporting, reporting on accomplishments, development of priorities, enhancement of procedures, documentation, and guidance materials for constituents - Provide effective fiscal guidance for procurement of services and management of budgets and related expenses - Support on-going quality assurance procedures and connections to JMU/Student Affairs strategic planning - Collaborate with campus partners for on-going quality improvement in areas of supervision - Working with the Director and departmental leadership to further develop the mission and vision of the unit. Contributes substantially to the strategic planning and development for the department and improves the ways in which the program areas can support disable students in alignment with JMU/ODS/Student Affairs. #2: Strategic case load and direct services * Conduct individualized assessment and analysis of requests for appropriate and reasonable accommodations to determine eligibility through individualized assessment and analysis of documentation, supporting materials and evidence including student circumstances, observations, and self-reports. * Provide direct student services that include, but may not be limited to: - Initial intake consultations - Registration for services - Prompt response to student requests for accommodations - Assist with the identification and development of appropriate academic accommodations, auxiliary aids and services - On-going disability-related support. * Maintains accurate, current and pertinent records of disability services reviews, decisions, and communications. * Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to established policies and procedures of ODS and JMU. In those situations which may not be specifically addressed by policies and procedures, decision-making is in alignment with high professional and ethical standards. #3: Serve as ODS Data System Administrator - Support on-going systems procedures for effective operations including but not limited to completing systems management reports, establishing user rights, and other regular procedures such as monitoring imports and ensuring semester. - Collaborate with campus partners and communicate with constituents for problem solving systems issues and on-going quality improvement. - May also lead in RFP process at end of system contract cycle and support effective communication with departmental and campus constituents. #4: Training and Supervision - Supervise program area leaders (Assistant Director, Program Coordinator) in accord with JMU policies and procedures. - Provide consultation and leadership to ODS staff in support of appropriate review of documentation and context for provision of reasonable accommodations. - Provide oversight and supervision for on-going development and provision of staff training for supervisees and consultation for department. - Conduct appropriate evaluation of performance by supervisees in compliance with JMU guidelines, policies and procedures for the purpose of enhancing performance, growth, and professional development of the supervisees. #5: Participate in Student Affairs Director and Associate Director Leadership and support ODS participation in Student Affairs initiatives - Contribute to divisional priorities (i.e. program reviews, supporting divisional goals, committee and/or working group appointments, etc.). - Support the communication to address calls for participation in division initiatives and projects. - Participate in and support development of assessment efforts for areas supervised and work to align ODS programming efforts with Student Affairs values for curricular approach. - Provide Administrative and supervisory leadership to ODS during periods of the Director's absence as assigned by Director and/or AVP. #6: Campus Collaboration, Consultation and Outreach - Provide professional and timely consultations with students, faculty, staff, parents and other constituent groups. - Present or provide at least 2-4 outreach programming opportunities per semester to the JMU campus community.
