Position Description

Primary Purpose:

As part of a dynamic commercial team responsible for short-term and long-term sale of firm transportation / storage agreements of natural gas to customers along the Texas Gulf Coast. The candidate will be responsible for managing new and existing customer accounts and relationships within the Texas Intrastate business unit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of natural gas sales, transportation and storage customers served off the KM Midstream asset base.

  • Negotiating contract extensions and on a monthly basis, ensuring all volumes are nominated, allocated, invoiced and collected accurately and timely.

  • Understand and negotiate contractual terms for various types of agreements including NAESBs, Transaction Confirmations, Interconnect Agreements and Transportation Agreements.

  • Interface between Customer and Gas Control/ Operations to help coordinate any pipeline outage as a result of maintenance.

  • Develop and maintain close business relationships with existing and potential customers.

  • Coordinate customer service response with functional peers (Gas Contracts and Legal) for assigned customers; solve with diplomacy.

  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups using a high level of proficiency in verbal, written and listening skills.

  • Communicate effectively and regularly with Management on issues, goals and objectives.

  • Exhibit aptitude with financial analysis and models, including proficiency in working with various financial spreadsheets, budgeting/forecasting, NPV, capital valuation, internal rates of return, etc.

  • Interface between Engineering/Operations and Marketing/Transportation to coordinate and execute outage plans resulting from pipeline integrity testing.

  • Think and act strategically, understand market dynamics relative to customer requirements.

  • Ability to contribute to an effective team environment including offering assistance and knowledge to others in the group

  • Seek opportunities for system expansions and oversee process from inception to completion including estimate request, financial modeling, commercial structure, proposal preparation and contract negotiation. Work with Project Management throughout project to ensure successful execution.

  • Complete special projects and annual and monthly objectives as assigned

    Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or closely related discipline.

  • An MBA is not required but is a valuable plus.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 year experience in the Texas Intrastate pipeline/market area.

  • Financial background experience is a plus

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidate should have knowledge and experience in the sale/transportation of natural gas. Candidate should also be familiar with natural gas sales, storage/transportation and interconnect agreements.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work as a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention to detail, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency level with Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel for the purpose of word processing, presentations, spreadsheets and analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Must be able to clearly present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to customers.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of general pipeline operations standards, practices and procedures.

  • Understanding of various methods of pipeline integrity assessments and their impact to customers served off the Texas Intrastate system(s).

  • Knowledge and understanding of KM pipeline hydraulics, meter stations, measurement equipment, chromatographs and separation equipment.

  • Contract and Scheduling experience/knowledge would be advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • Mostly office work; hybrid work schedule; 9/80 work schedule not available for this position.

  • Extended work hours in cases of deadlines or extreme weather event.

  • Travel required to effectively support customer and industry relations
