USAID IPSA: Accounting Manager (Contingency Hire)
KBR is looking for an Accounting Manager (AM) to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting the USAID NexGen Global Health Supply Chain Program. This is a full-time position that will accommodate a hybrid remote/office work schedule, but will require occasional travel to the Washington, D.C. area and potential overseas travel. The AM will work under the direct supervision of the Business Manager and serves as the main point of contact for end-to-end accounting management operations. Must be a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve goals.
Responsible for accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a precise general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and management financial reporting. Under general direction, is accountable for the performance and results of a related discipline or sub-group within a function. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. Participates in the development of functional strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
Review monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations performed by the team; ensuring timely, adequate, and complete reconciliations with adequate explanations for any variances that may exist.
Oversee organizational and professional development of accounting staff, as needed
Oversee the monthly close process; preparing / approving month-end journal entries and participate in resolving potential issues and communicating any possible close related delays
Work to assess the adequacy of existing or required new Internal controls
Provide monthly/quarterly reports and analysis to internal & external auditors and respond regarding periodic information requests.
Work cross-functionally with multiple functions to evaluate potential change orders and their accounting impact
Support monthly reporting of budgets/forecasts to corporate FP&A and Treasury
Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
Ensure project funding requirements are met to ensure positive project cash flow
Maintain adequate documentation in support of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assessments
Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls
Perform various ad-hoc analyses and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance)
10+ years of experience in Accounting / Finance, including 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
Preferred experience with Joint Venture projects
Experience with standard government agency (particularly USAID) reporting requirements
Proficiency in project finance assessments, cost analysis, forecasting, budget development
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
Preferred proficiency in Deltek/Costpoint and IFS
Proactive innovator with ability to prioritize effectively
Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem solving
Possess confidence, flexibility and is a team player
