Ultium Cells Material Supervisor in Lansing, Michigan

Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Job Description:

The Material Supervisor will lead a team and provide employee development, training, and drive the performance management process as well as manage an efficient organizational structure. Executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization's business objectives. Guides of one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.     Job Responsibilities:  

  • Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross-functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to production
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop creative solutions within a team environment
  • Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership
  • Handle very complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with the goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce / eliminate premium transportation
  • Analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiency plan resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
  • Ability to travel to plant locations when required for onsite support of launch
  • Ability to problem tackle complete issues and implement new and innovative strategies
  • Deep understanding of Supply Chain functions
  • Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers
  • Additional duties as assigned

     

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Safety focused individual
  • 1-3 Years Manufacturing Leadership - Supervision Experience preferred 
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain from a four-year college or university or three plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of material handling / supply chain activities - raw materials receiving, delivery, finished goods shipping
  • Dangerous Goods knowledge / training / experience a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to lead a team to meet a common objective
  • Bilingual in Korean / English a plus
