The anticipated salary range for this role is between $119,000.00 and $147,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Head of Middle Office, this position will manage a team of KYC Analysts. Act as mentor and coach as well as cross-train other team members. Interact with Compliance/KYC department leads to enhance procedures and training of team and take lead/direct response to requests for information and updates related to KYC and internal/external audits.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

KYC Completion Timing

  • Work closely with Business Unit including Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Cash Management Sales/Implementation/Customer Service teams, Compliance/KYC teams and the Client to gather the appropriate organizational documents and forms to ensure compliance with internal policies/procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Understand the complexities of corporate structure, documentation and State registration and how they relate to onboarding new clients.

  • Ensure KYC onboarding is complete for new accounts related to loans, deposit accounts and other products and is re-confirmed for amendments, renewals, and periodic reviews.

  • Manage client and relationship/portfolio managers expectations related to deliverables related to loan closing/account opening. Provide timely and accurate updates to key stakeholders.

Compliance Audits

  • Focal point for information (RFI) from Compliance/KYC teams and ensure KYC Analysts

  • respond in a timely manner.

Cross-team support

  • Work closely with other teams to ensure all controls are met and that the bank complies with regulatory and internal policy/procedure requirements.

  • Be flexible and available to cross-train team members within the Middle Office.

  • Perform other tasks that may arise per management request

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent.

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal communication, written and verbal

  • Detail oriented along with strong time management skills.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new information and systems.

  • Experience managing a team and coaching/training team members as required

  • Analytical skills, solid understanding of deposit and loan transactions, use of good judgment, internet savvy

  • Knowledge of USA Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act

  • Familarity with online KYC systems

  • Familiarity with Clear, Lexis/Nexis, a plus.
