Amazon Finance Manager, Accounting in Luxembourg, Luxembourg

This role will be based in our European Headquarters in Luxembourg.

Amazon is currently looking for a proactive and result oriented Finance Manager to become a major contributor to our Accounting team based in Luxembourg and to focus on financial reporting and compliance, including incoming sustainability reporting requirements in Europe.

This role will collaborate closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders internationally for ensuring compliance with reporting regulations and to contribute to high-impacting global projects in a matrix environment.

The role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership. The ideal candidate has in depth understanding and passion for financial, wider corporate and ESG reporting as well as continuously enhance processes and reduce manual efforts through automation or optimization initiatives.

The candidate will be expected to take ownership and lead positive change including evaluating and streamlining existing processes and developing best practice in controllership on an international level.

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements

Key job responsibilities

• Preparation or review of statutory financial statements under local GAAPs;

• Preparation and review of various deliverables to support both internal and external financial and ESG reporting needs, including analytic commentary and the preparation of supplementary financial analysis for management and other stakeholders;

• Actively contributing to improvement initiatives, standardization, re-engineering of processes and controls, and implementation of best practices;

• Working with various cross-functional stakeholders to maintain efficient and compliant reporting processes, and effective controls;

• Participation in European and global projects to advance, integrate and implement ESG disclosure requirements in European subsidiaries’ financial statements by acting as a subject matter expert and providing accounting and financial reporting guidance

• Reviewing and evaluating the accounting and financial reporting implications related to ESG reporting matters

• Developing processes within accounting that integrate sustainability and financial reporting requirements

• Monitoring regulatory developments in ESG reporting and sharing knowledge and awareness within other Amazon accounting teams

• Demonstrating excellent project management abilities and strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting systems;

• Demonstrating strong technical accounting skills required in order to arrive to and document accounting conclusions.

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics

  • Significant experience with an emphasis on accounting and financial reporting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm and / or a multinational organization

  • Proficient Microsoft Excel user

  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 public accounting experience with large sized multinational clients.

  • Working level understanding of current ESG regulatory developments in Europe and internationally

  • Substantial experience in end-to-end financial and sustainability reporting processes, including a strong understanding of statutory filings, internal controls, audits and their related requirements

  • Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology

  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills

  • Comfortable managing ambiguous situations independently

  • Proactive, and results-driven, ability to correctly set priorities and meet challenging deadlines

  • Thorough level knowledge in reporting requirements under IFRS / US GAAP;

  • Certified accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent)
