RELX INC Data Privacy Compliance Analyst II in Manila, Philippines

Introduction:

There are a number of jurisdictions globally (more notably the EU) that provides individuals the right to access, amend, restrict, delete and ‘port’ any personal information that we may process on them. These rights also extend to the provision of additional information regarding how we process their data, including any automated decisions that we may take, or details of any parties that we may have sold their data to or otherwise shared.

The Data Protection Paralegal will assist the RX Privacy Office, and RX Business Units globally to handle such requests in a centralised process developed and coordinated by the RX Privacy Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the global inbox of external privacy enquiries, ensuring that enquiries are quickly and accurately categorised by jurisdictional requirement and right exercised (assisted by the online form process and ServiceNow configuration);

  • To liaise with the appropriate BU SPOC to collate the relevant information in line with the request, as-well-as the policies, toolkits and templates provided by the Privacy Office;

  • To pull together a draft response / disclosure bundle, including any recommendations for exemptions in line with the relevant legislation, for approval by the relevant BU SPOC and the Privacy Office;

  • To keep accurate, comprehensive and timely case notes on actions taken, personnel contacted and exemptions applied (including justifications);

  • To respond to requests on behalf of each BU within the set timescales (28 calendar days for most jurisdictions);

  • To follow the escalation process set by the Privacy Office where SLAs are not met by BUs;

  • To provide the Privacy Office monthly MI measuring compliance with the various global requirements, broken down by BU (templates provided);

  • To raise any concerns, queries or issues for immediate attention of the Privacy Office; and

  • Assisting in audit reporting processes that are relevant to the above activities;

  • General updates, design flow, enhancements (as necessary) in the systems used.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The business is looking for a candidate with legal experience in a commercial environment. Such knowledge and experience should include:

  • To possess, or, to have the willingness to develop a working knowledge of subject rights requirements based in data protection law in global jurisdictions.

  • Ability to provide clear and effective communication on compliance requirements, and escalating matters where concerns or issues arise.

  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and enthusiasm that inspires others.

  • Well organised and efficient, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines;

  • Ability to work effectively and supportively within a global team;

  • Willingness to receive training, mentoring and on-going support; and

  • Ability to use Google Translate, or other appropriate (and reliable) translation tools.

    Qualifications:

    Requirements:

  • Privacy Regulation knowledge particularly in GDPR/ EU/ UK Privacy Laws.

  • Has Data Privacy work experience, which is required for minimum of 12 months.

  • Has a background or knowledge in Data Management with minimum of 12 months.

  • Fluency and articulate or can confidently express itself in English.

  • University degree

Good To have:

  • University degree in Law or has a Legal Corporate/ Law background.

  • Have working knowledge in OneTrust tool.

  • Understanding of RX databases, platforms, systems, data flows and processes.

  • Has experience or has a background in handling Data Subject Request.

  • Multilingual- Especially fluency in German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese or Portuguese will be highly desirable.
