Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities Incumbent assists in a variety of technical and specialized administrative tasks to support library operations to include; acquiring, processing, distributing and disposing of library materials and maintaining patron files. Compiles daily and monthly statistics. Assists patrons on heavily trafficked computer islands and troubleshoots computer issues routinely. Responsible for circulation procedures, including checking in/out library materials, verifying customer access to facility. Registers new patrons and issues library cards, demonstrates competency in navigating online public access catalog. Explains library rules, regulations, circulation procedures, and entitlements to library customers. Takes requests for reserves and inter/intra library loans, ensuring that requests are filled. Accurately compiles and records statistics on library usage such as circulation, program attendance, computer searches, reference questions, and patron count. Assists and advises customers in locating and utilizing specific library operations and resources, including conference room, study rooms, children¿s programs, reference and Makerspace. Navigates and instructs patrons on digital resources, means of access, and ILS. Communicates information in a simple, clear, and straightforward manner. Participates on various projects, including events, programs, and projects to ensure library¿s Premier status. Concentration of duties may be in the following areas: cataloging, processing, circulation, electronic resource instruction, Semper Find It alignment, Makerspace, and programming. Additional responsibilities include generating reports, providing statistical data, and condensing information for further compilation. Incumbent must be flexible and adaptable to new business requirements, updates to information systems, and technology changes. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage to library materials. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of one year of experience in library support services or related job experience. Ability to operate office equipment such as: computers, scanners, and copiers. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Child Care (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
