JOB OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Technician takes responsibility for the daily maintenance tasks necessary to keep the plant running smoothly and efficiently with a particular focus on maintaining and attending the high speed packaging equipment. In addition to taking responsibility for the daily maintenance, the technician works hand-in-hand with the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors & Leaders, other Maintenance Technicians, and the broader team, as appropriate, to identify ways to improve the plant and keep production moving smoothly. This position requires exceptional organizational and detail skills, a problem-solving approach, and a firm grasp of the mechanics necessary to solve the variety of maintenance tasks that come up on a day-to-day basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain and support plant high-speed packaging line(s).

Safely complete all emergency work, routine checks, and preventative maintenance.

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment problems.

Partner with operations, engineering, safety and quality to ensure compatibility of equipment with production needs.

Evaluate production line processes and help identify opportunities for improvement.

Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.

Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.

Optimize overall equipment effectiveness by improving reliability and availability while minimizing quality defects of the production processes.

Maintain and optimize critical spare parts inventory.

Work with contractors to perform required calibrations and validations as assigned.

Ensure structure is secure and maintained per quality standards

Responsible for exterior repairs including fencing, windows, doors, roof, and etc.

Work with the broader maintenance team to complete more complicated tasks.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of high-speed packaging maintenance and operation highly desired.

Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in a food manufacturing setting preferred.

3+ years in building maintenance, construction, or similar field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

Ability to use power tools (drill, grinder, impact, saw, etc.).

Strong problem-solving abilities

Significant Mechanical and Electrical background

Developed listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

Exceptional organizational and detail skills

Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities

Must be a problem-solver who uses good judgement

Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred

Basic refrigeration knowledge preferred

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing, walking, using hands and arms to feel and reach.

Ability to walk up and down stairs and ramps.

Ability to climb ladders.

Regularly or routinely lifting or handling boxes/bags/equipment up to 50 lbs.

Routinely bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Regularly pushing or pulling sizeable equipment from a standing position.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, periph ral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Use of personal protective equipment including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, and head protection.

The employee is occasionally required to sit.

Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. Daily work in refrigerated environment. It may also require working at elevated heights. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
