Naval Facilities Engineering Command INTERIOR DESIGNER in Naval Base, Virginia

Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. You will serve as an Interior Designer in the Planning Design, and Construction Business Line. Responsibilities You will provide technical advice and guidance to client representatives regarding solutions to interior design problems. You will develop and formulate the total interior design concept for projects. You will prepare presentation materials, including color and material boards. You will review Interior Design packages prepared by other in-house designers and private architect-engineer design firms. You will conduct field trips to project site during scoping, design, construction, and product installation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assists with developing and formulating the total interior design concept for projects from the initial architectural start to completion of color design specification; 2) Assists with formulating generic furniture requirements based on 35% design stage collateral equipment lists and activity interviews; 3) Assists with developing schematic furniture layouts for review by project architect and activity in order to determine practical requirements and limitations of the project; and 4) assisting the project manager and client with developing collateral equipment lists including costs. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Having a degree with Major study -- interior design or other field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; and passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination is highly desired. A forty hour work week is typical for this position. This position is being recruited at the full performance level. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management. Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary, however, there may be climbing, walking, bending, crawling, or stooping involved in activities such as investigating problems, making indoor/outdoor site visits, and generally traversing construction work sites. Work Environment: Work generally involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions typical of an office setting; however, field inspections are made which may required protective clothing.
