Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join the HarperOne Group! The Editorial Assistant will provide administrative and editorial support on a variety of nonfiction titles including memoir, narrative nonfiction, social justice, essay collections, nature, science, personal development, spirituality, health and wellness.

This role is based in New York City and will require someone in commutable distance to come into the office as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains communication with authors and agents.

  • Writes jacket copy, flap copy, sales notes, and fact sheets.

  • Assists in acquisition process by performing research on sales numbers and competitive titles and evaluating book proposals.

  • Assists with editing manuscripts.

  • Transmits manuscripts and manages the publication process by liaising with other departments.

  • Performs administrative and editorial duties and assists in coordinating the publication process from manuscript to book.

  • Writes correspondence, memos, and completes internal forms; masters intranet programs.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional writing skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The salary for this position is $48,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
