Our Opportunity

Corporate Compliance Risk Management (“CCRM”) is a firm-wide compliance program established to manage compliance risks across The Charles Schwab Corporation and its subsidiaries. Within CCRM, the Third Party Compliance team is responsible for establishing and maintaining a compliance program to assess, monitor, and report on a variety of compliance risks related to third party vendors and other service providers.

What you’ll do:

Our Corporate Compliance Program is looking for a Senior Manager to support its growing responsibilities under the Third Party Compliance Program.

The Senior Manager will report to the Managing Director- Third Party Compliance and will assist in the implementation and performance of new processes to assess, monitor, analyze, and report on regulatory compliance risks arising from the activities of the firm’s vendors and other third parties. You will work collaboratively with other multiple risk and compliance partners, including operational risk and first line staff, to implement a sustainable and comprehensive compliance program for coordinating and managing compliance risks related to the firm’s reliance on third parties at both an enterprise-wide level and within individual lines of business or functions.

As a Senior Manager, Third Party Compliance, your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to, the following activities:

  • Identifying compliance risks in third party vendors by reviewing and analyzing risk questionnaires, and performing additional research, as needed

  • Assessing and analyzing ongoing due diligence questionnaires to determine nature and level of compliance risks, and reviewing and incorporating other relevant materials as needed

  • Coordinating/performing periodic vendor due diligence reviews in collaboration with other risk and compliance partners

  • Tracking and monitoring resolution of compliance issues arising at third parties

  • Providing advice and guidance to the business and others on compliance risks associated with prospective third parties

  • Participation on committees and other groups relating to third party risks

  • Assessing existing control processes against regulatory requirements and expectations of prudential regulators relating to third party compliance risks

  • Collaborating with other compliance and risk subject matter experts so that third party compliance risks are included in risk assessments performed by those functions, and working collaboratively to continually enhance the firm’s Compliance Risk Assessment framework and methodology

  • Assisting the Managing Director with the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, tracking mechanisms, and other materials as required

  • Maintaining subject matter expertise on third party compliance risks and providing advice and guidance pertinent to third party compliance risks to both line of business and risk and compliance stakeholders

  • Liaising with other second line of defense and specialty areas to address compliance issues or events as they may arise, monitor action plans to address testing, audit, or regulatory exam issues, close self-identified compliance gaps and/or drive other initiatives / projects

  • Creating/coordinating periodic reporting of third party compliance risks and collaborating with risk and compliance partners in the preparation of periodic reporting, presentations and other materials for senior executive and board level audiences

  • Interfacing with regulators, responding to regulatory inquiries, and preparing materials to be presented to regulators

  • Working with relevant subject matter experts to develop quantitative risk metrics for various purposes including risk assessment data and management reporting

What you have:

  • A minimum of 8 years in financial services, with direct experience working in either a compliance or other risk management function and/or vendor management function

  • Experience working with compliance risks across multiple lines of business, legal entities, and/or jurisdictions

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and expectations of prudential regulators (FRB, OCC), particularly with respect to bank holding companies

  • Familiarity with the products and services offered by a broker-dealer, investment advisors, and/or banking institutions

  • Superior analytical and research skills and ability to synthesize data

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, collaborate effectively, and establish trust, respect, and confidence

  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex issues in a team environment working with various levels of management and business partners while being disciplined in the use of project management principles

  • Fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and SharePoint including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • BA/BS degree required
