Field & Fork Network Market Coordinator in Niagara Falls, New York

The Niagara Falls Local Food Action Plan (NFLFAP) lists action items for the City of Niagara Falls for improving the local food system and increasing food security for Niagara Falls residents. The Plan is organized around a four-part framework: Agriculture, Economy, Education, and Healthy Neighborhoods. The improvement and growth of the Niagara Falls City Market operations and oversight is listed as a priority action item in the plan. To achieve this, Field & Fork Network has collaborated with several community partners to improve operations at the Niagara Falls City Market Farmers Market. The position has a dual focus on community outreach to engage residents in the events and activities of each organization and at the Market; and managing the acceptance of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; formerly food stamps) and Double Up Food Bucks (a SNAP incentive program).

This is a contracted (1099) position.

Essential Responsibilities: SNAP/EBT/DUFB Management. Assist with enrolling farmers/vendors in the market, using provided participation agreements. Distribute signage and other information to participating vendors. Safeguard all EBT and DUFB tokens and incentive coupons. Attend training programs, as required. Set up and oversight of customer-facing SNAP/DUFB booth, including tokens, signage, wireless terminal, etc. Completion of tracking logs for token transactions and incentive distributions. Collect tokens from vendors for redemption and record appropriately. Organization and safekeeping of tracking logs and paperwork. Survey customers and vendors to evaluate program.

Outreach & Engagement: Work with partners to gather and distribute important outreach/educational materials. Enroll/register vendors and residents in upcoming events/activities. Assist with the planning, implementation, and promotion of market events and activities, including monthly evening markets, Cruise Nights, Family Day, and other market events. Work closely with Project Director to develop and execute creative events and activities to increase resident engagement in the market. Assist with social media promotion of day-to-day market business.

Qualifications: A passion for increasing healthy food access for low-income community members. Strong skills in communicating, building relationships, and working with community members and vendors from diverse backgrounds, including immigrants and refugees, people of color, and low-income communities. Fosters and energetic and positive work environment. Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into concise, easy to understand formats. Self-starter, ability to carry out assigned duties independently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to keep on time and meet deadlines. Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Current and valid drivers license with safe driving record.

Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with community organizations and service providers serving low-income communities and communities of color in Niagara Falls, NY. Experience with bookkeeping. Experience planning events, workshops, and/or trainings. Experience doing outreach for diverse audiences.
