Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SCADA Engineer in Orlando, Florida

Position Overview

  • The SCADA engineer in Siemens Gamesa is responsible for SCADA installation, maintenance, network architecture design and sub-system support as part of the Technology Services team. The SCADA networks are used for controlling, operating and monitoring wind energy power plants. A successful candidate has the ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual engineer and team member in front of both internal and external customers and may be exposed to challenging areas of customer interface and sales strategies.

  • Relocation may be offered for this role should it be necessary.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Support

  • Install , program , configure , commission SCADA Systems in North America region.

  • Perform FAT & SAT for SCADA systems – both internal and with customers

  • Support sales in North America region.

  • Assist other SCADA team members, Engineering & field personnel in upgrade , overhaul and troubleshooting SCADA & its sub-system.

  • Handling, configuration and troubleshooting of the wind farm networks, which includes but is not limited to the wind farm fiber-optic and Ethernet networks, switches, radios (WAN and LAN)

  • Prepare & maintain technical documentation related to SCADA both for internal (SCADA team, Operation) and for external (customers)

Customer Support

  • Should be able/willing to handle customer calls /support directly.

  • Support FAT /SAT , Cyber security updates /patches , MOD/Grid regulation testing with customers

Installation & Test

  • Travel to wind farms for installation /upgrade of SCADA & its sub systems

  • Conduct /Perform Factory acceptance test & Site acceptance test for SCADA

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in computer /Electrical /Electronics/ Communication related field of study mandatory

  • Must be familiar & worked minimum 3 years with any industrial standard SCADA systems (preferable in wind power industry)

  • Strong working knowledge of Database systems – like SQL

  • Worked /has experience in using Virtual systems like VMware etc

  • Basic Knowledge of NERC /CIP/Cyber security for power plants, preferably renewables (Wind)

  • Must be familiar & worked with industrial standards protocols – MODBUS, DNP, IEC, OPC

  • Networking experience with certification or equivalent experience – Routers (CISCO) , firewalls ( Palo Alto , CISCO ASA )

  • Strong Windows Server knowledge (any Microsoft cert preferable)

  • Basic knowledge about power systems and regulation standards

  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the {United States / Canada}. Qualified applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States

  • This position requires travelling up to 50% to 60% for first year and later can be 30 %

  • Open to travel – US & Canada

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation related to SCADA/Control systems

  • Any Programming languages

  • Wind farm / Energy SCADA experience
