We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Technician within our Chemical Manufacturing Plant located in Pedricktown, NJ.

Essential Duties

  • This position is responsible for providing maintenance craft skills in a safe, productive, and environmentally-responsible manner, as required to achieve plant goals and objective.
  •  Participates in and supports programs, methods, systems and practices for maintaining a safe work environment.  Reviews the HESS program requirements with those in the department and recommends improvements to maintain compliance.
  •   Reviews work requests for safety hazards and takes precautions as needed.  Attends monthly safety meetings as requested.  Conducts a minimum of two job observations per month and shares job observation results with others.  Participates in weekly housekeeping and critical items inspections of the maintenance shops.   Participates in field evaluations of one key procedure each quarter.
  •   Performs reliable repairs on plant piping, structures, and plant process equipment and systems including, but not limited to, rotating, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic.
  • Troubleshoots, inspects, fabricates, modifies, removes, repairs, overhauls, or replaces parts or equipment on systems involved directly or indirectly with chemical processes or associated support equipment in a safe, cost efficient, and environmentally-responsible manner.  Operates tools and performs systems tests to ensure proper completion of work.
  •  Perform routine adjustment and minor maintenance on equipment as needed.  Completes work orders as assigned.
  • Identifies the need for and obtains the necessary parts, tools, equipment, materials, and supplies to safely perform assigned work.
  • Adheres to area equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) program and related procedures.
  • Maintains the necessary training and qualification; including area overviews and applicable HESS courses required for the position.
  • Maintains craft skills so as to ensure ability to complete assigned work.
  • Provides assistance to other maintenance crafts as qualified.
  •  Attends company or vendor training as directed.
  •  Trains and qualifies to operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts, man-lifts, carry decks etc.  Uses a variety of hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  •  Moves, adjusts, installs/reinstalls machinery and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, and other equipment, for maintenance and repair work, within specifications.  Replaces defective parts of machines and/or adjusts clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
  • Performs all work in a safe and professional manner in compliance with applicable HESS, maintenance, and other related procedures.
  • Performs safety, quality, and environmental inspections as assigned.
  • Performs regular housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work area.  Complies with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Participates in special information or problem-solving teams as requested.
  •  Utilizes the Maintenance files or other engineering data as a resource in solving plant maintenance-related problems.
  •  Performs recordkeeping required to properly document inspections and repairs performed.
  •  Utilizes a computer for recording time and attendance, for SAP applications, for email communications, and for area process data, etc.
  •  Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system to document repair notes, review repair history, obtain materials from Stores, etc.
  • Cooperates with other employees in a team atmosphere to solve plant problems and achieve plant goals.
  •  Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant’s ISO Quality System.
  •  Completes the necessary activities to comply with the requirements of the Routine Maintenance program.
  • Completes any miscellaneous tasks and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. 
  • Must possess an Associate's Degree in Mechanical and/or Millwright Technology OR must have (3) years of industrial  experience as a mechanic and/or millwright.
  • This position requires proof of NCCER certification, in Millwright and/or Pipefitter, no later than 6 months post-employment.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
  •  Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must be skilled in the following: equipment troubleshooting, pump maintenance, mechanical seal rebuilds, equipment alignments, gearbox repairs, fan & blower repairs, pipe fitting, safe use of shop tools, basic machining skills, basic welding skills, proper rigging knowledge.   Must have plant and process knowledge and craft knowledge to safely plan and perform assigned work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • SAP experience 
  • Familiarity with the Pedricktown industrial Complex
  • Strong computer skills to interact with the computerized maintenance management system.
