This position will focus on the engineering of the Windows operating systems in use at Charles Schwab & Co. and enable a fast turn-around time on hardware drivers, software updates, and microcode updates to ensure that the enterprise is in front of security and compatibility issues
What you’ll do:
Direct engagement in the operating system image and updates to hardware and device driver currency will be primary responsibilities for this position. Security components such as Meltdown/Spectre have shown that currency on hardware and systems microcode are necessary to keep enterprises secure given the ever-shifting security landscape, and this position will have a large part in enabling us to patch existing systems and build new systems in a secure methodology.
What you have:
3+ years experience in a support role of operating systems engineering
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering disciple
Extensive experience in hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics
Experience in laptop hardware and docking solutions and integration
Windows 7, 8.1, and Windows 10 experience in building images for deployment across an enterprise
Experience in imaging and re-imaging desktop and laptop systems in an enterprise
Understanding and experience in upgrading hardware drivers across an enterprise
Experience in diagnosing wired and wireless networking on desktops and laptops
Experience in performance monitoring and management with tools such as Systrack
Experience in utilizing security reports from systems such as Qualys to identify and remediate vulnerabilities in our desktop and laptop systems
Experience in performance and diagnostics with network diagnostics tools
Experience in PowerShell is a plus
Experience with SCCM is a plus
BMC Remedy incident, problem, and service experience or related ticketing systems
Written communication skills are of critical importance to ensure we provide effective turnover to groups such as the Help Desk
This position will be required at times to shift work days/times in order to accommodate supporting of changes in this environment and validation of infrastructure after updates
