Our Opportunity:

In Corporate Risk Management (CRM), we provide an integrated risk management strategy that supports the delivery of predictable financial and operational performance in order to produce successful client and shareholder outcomes. We are organized around six primary functions: Bank Risk, Enterprise Risk, Information Security Risk Management, Market and Investment Risk, Model Risk and Operational Risk. Within each of these areas, we develop a framework for how much risk we are willing to accept as a firm and establish processes for identifying, evaluating, measuring, monitoring and reporting against that framework. In Information Security Risk Management (ISRM), we support that framework across information and technology to protect client assets, client information and firm assets.

The Director, Vendor Risk Oversight Transitions will lead the execution of a portfolio of initiatives to enhance the ISRM Vendor Assessment and Risk Reporting (VARR) function by leveraging strategic offshoring partners. In this role, you will develop the service transition framework including the strategy, transition methodology, and execution roadmaps. You will also provide leadership to the team; manage the relationship of strategic outsourcing partners, and be the offshore service transition evangelist for the function and ISRM as a whole

What you’ll do:

Governance & Framework

  • Develop a standard, repeatable service transition offshoring framework to assure the successful identification, planning, execution, and management of services to the groups strategic offshore partner(s)

  • Partner with the Managing Director, Vendor Assessments & Risk Reporting to develop the service offshoring transition strategy with stakeholders across the teams and ISRM leadership

  • Work with leaders and team members to shape the service transition portfolio that enable organizational goals and ISRM strategic priorities while integrating with the organizations operating model

  • Develop standard tools, templates, and artifacts to facilitate a data-driven methodology to identify, and prioritize activities to be transitioned to offshore partner(s)

  • Build and facilitate program governance; manage change control; ensure program benefits are met while managing risks

Transition Management/Organization Enablement

  • Develop and manage execution plans to ensure successful transition of initiatives to strategic partner(s)

  • Partner with existing SMEs to define actions required to execute transitions, and oversee timely completion of both internal (ISRM VARR teams) and external (strategic offshore partner) tasks

  • Partner with internal leaders to identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and/or bundling of existing work activities to assure the performance of the team's scales with the increase in workload from expanding business requirements

  • Provide execution guidance and oversight for a cross-functional, matrixed team, creating a climate of positive and proactive leadership on the team

  • Assess service offshore transition demand; mange the assessment of resources required to accomplish goals and align resources accordingly

  • Provide regular reporting and updates to Senior and Executive Management individuals and committees on service offshoring transition strategy, transitions, vendor relationship, costs and benefits

Outsourcing Partner Relationship Management

  • Monitor and manage all aspects of the offshoring vendor relationship at the account level - including performance, fees, issues and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Develop performance and risk metrics, key indicators, and a balanced scorecard to measure and monitor the vendor(s)

  • Monitor, report, ensure appropriate escalations related to progress of offshore service provider control deficiency remediation activities

  • Ensure timely and accurate contracts/Master Service Agreement by working closely with the offshore service provider and internal Schwab functions (Procurement, Legal, IT, etc.) to ensure all service transition considerations are updated in the Master Service Agreement

  • Define, monitor, and report on offshoring partner performance against defined SLAs

Build and Maintain Relationships

  • Successful partnership with cross-functional stakeholders in the organizations will be critical to the success of this role, as well as effective relationship with peers, audit, and regulatory staff

  • Serve as the trusted advisor to the organization on service outsourcing transition matters

What you have:

  • 15+ years’ experience in Technology, Information Security, Risk Management, Contracts, or Procurement disciplines

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with technical and executive audiences; both oral and written is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Finance, Economics, or Engineering

  • 10+ years' experience working with offshore service providers, and/or in a global company that utilizes offshoring strategies

  • Direct experience with the procurement of and/or contracting with service providers in technology, business processes, or information security technology oversight is required

  • 10+ years of program management experience involving, preferably involving organizational transformation global initiatives

  • Certification in process improvement and/or process engineering disciplines such as Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt and/or Lean Expert required.

  • Experience interfacing with auditors in support of audits and external regulatory exam processes

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical judgment, decision-making, functional and technical knowledge, business acumen, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong initiative; self-starter; self-directed; ability to multi-task

  • Experience in project planning, meeting facilitation for multiple groups and projects is preferred
