This role will be working in cooperation with internal trading partners as well as Advisor Services (AS) - the leading provider of custodial, trading, technology and practice management to registered independent advisory firms. AS provides access to sophisticated wealth-management services that help advisors attract and retain clients, as well as profitably grow, compete and succeed in their business efforts.

Schwab Advisor Services is the leading provider of custodial, operational and trading support for independent, fee-based investment advisors. The Advisor Services trading team is focused on building and developing the client experience through a deep understanding of our client’s trading needs.

What you’ll do:

The trading Team Manager is responsible for all management and leadership activities for a team of Mutual Fund trading representatives who provide institutional trading for our Investment Advisor clients, while helping them navigate the mutual fund platform. To do so effectively, ideal candidates must be able to analyze and prioritize workflow and workload. They will anticipate potential risk issues while presenting and implementing proactive solutions. As an effective partner within Charles Schwab & Co., they must be able to provide creative ideas and solutions that will benefit the business and set the strategic direction of trading desk.

The Manager will directly oversee a team of trading specialists providing mutual fund trading and service to advisors and field partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading employee engagement and development, recruiting talent and training.

  • Influencing client loyalty through value-add initiatives and memorable client experiences.

  • Effectively managing team and individual performance in regard to service levels, productivity and risk mitigation.

  • Ensuring adherence to all compliance related issues and regulatory requirements.

  • Addressing and resolving escalated service issues and trade-related disputes.

  • Actively manage a robust supervisory ecosystem designed to govern risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Partnering with other business units, including technology, marketing, and compliance to expand our competitive position and service offering.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to motivate and drive consensus, while exemplifying the vision and values of Schwab.

  • Typically has supervisory/managerial experience, along with 5 to 10+ years of financial services experience, ideally with an emphasis in trading.

  • Strong leadership, partnership and employee development skills.

  • Exceptional organizational & time management skills.

  • Strong orientation to clients, including the ability to understand advisor needs and apply to client experience.

  • Series 7, 9/10 and 63 required.
