Vagaro Sr. Revenue Accountant in Pleasanton, California

We are looking for a highly motivated and driven Sr. Revenue Accountant to join a collaborative and growing team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and US GAAP standards. You will collaborate with various departments to streamline processes, drive improvements, and maintain the integrity of financial statements. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing journals, conducting reconciliations, analyzing variances, and supporting internal and external reporting. Additionally, you will provide expertise in ASC 606 and contribute to cross-functional initiatives to enhance controls, documentation, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping to manage the worldwide monthly revenue close processes to ensure that revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP and the Company's revenue recognition policies.

  • Collaborate with field sales, sales operations, legal and revenue operations to coordinate, complete and resolve complex issues as well as remove process inefficiencies and facilitate process enhancements.

  • Participating in the month-end close process, which includes preparing, reviewing and/or verifying the accuracy of journal entries, revenue accruals, account reconciliations and fluctuation analysis.

  • Review monthly invoices for accuracy, ensuring timeliness and completeness of billings.

  • Partnering with the FP&A team on the revenue forecasting process to evolve it to a scalable, systematic process.

  • Monitor and process accounts receivable receipts promptly, reconciling with corporate policies.

  • Provide recommendations to enhance the revenue process, focusing on timeliness and accuracy. Actively implement approved changes.

  • Build strong relationships with Managing Directors to facilitate transparent discussions regarding revenue recording, compliance, and other corporate accounting matters.

  • Develop comprehensive documentation supporting revenue processes and procedures, aiding in clarity and continuity.

  • Assist in establishing and enforcing internal control policies for the revenue function, addressing any gaps or inefficiencies identified.

  • Gain deep insights into the current revenue recognition process, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting potential changes for optimization.

  • Support implementation, maintenance, and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.

  • Handle other areas of corporate accounting and internal reporting, including account reconciliations, month-end close, internal financial reporting, financial and variance analysis.

  • Assist in preparing financial information for external audits and collaborating directly with external auditors to provide requested schedules and support.

  • Drive, implement, and execute process improvements to streamline the month-end close process and enhance overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required. CPA or related advanced degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 4+ years directly related accounting and financial experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a revenue accounting role, preferably in SaaS or professional services industries, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Strong understanding and application of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.

  • Advanced computer skills experience required – Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Netsuite, PowerBI.

  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Self-starter, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and passionate desire to learn and for continuous improvement.

  • Team player who can work and interact with various departments and levels daily, including senior management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Capable of working effectively under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in public software company with a focus on revenue recognition is preferred
