Job Overview: The New Castle School of Trades is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team as a trainer of adult students. As a Diesel Instructor and potential Department Chairperson, you will be responsible for teaching how to maintain and repair diesel engines and vehicles. This position that requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the desire to help students succeed. Only 4 days per week, 32 hours, but paid for 40 (Monday - Thursday)

Responsibilities:

  • Teach how to perform maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.

  • Teach how to diagnose and repair mechanical issues with diesel engines, such as fuel system problems, electrical malfunctions, and cooling system failures

  • Demonstrate the use of diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose problems accurately

  • Teach the repair or replacement faulty parts, such as belts, hoses, brakes, and transmissions

  • Demonstrate preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity of diesel engines and vehicles

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Teaching experience is not necessary, will train.

  • 5 plus years of proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting purposes

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with adult students and team members

     

Skills:

  • Ability to maintain and repair diesel engines

  • Knowledge of building or rebuilding engines

  • Electrical system troubleshooting skills

  • HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) knowledge is a plus

  • Ability to educate others through adult education programs or training sessions
