Summary of Duties:
The Apartment and Leadership Coordinator is a full-time, 12 month, live-in professional appointment overseeing the student and family experience in 9 apartment complexes and oversees the leadership initiatives within housing and residence life, including serving as primary advisor to the Residence Hall Association and overall management of Residential Education Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervision of paraprofessional staff, administration of special programs (academic, international, theme programming, etc.), adjudicating housing policy/contract violations, personal counseling, programming, budget development and management, community development, crisis management and conflict resolution, committee work, advising student registered student organizations, management of resource center supplies and supervision (hiring, training and evaluating) of 3-4 student desk staff, as well as, emergency on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Two (2) years' experience working in a residence hall or apartment complex as a Residence Hall Director or equivalent position, experience advising student organizations, on call duty experience, and/or demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Must be willing and able to keep regular hours and work some evenings and weekends.
• Demonstrated experience working with international students.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A Master's degree.
• One (1) year direct experience with a Residence Hall Association and the national affiliate, NACURH.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students and administrators in a broad range of situations and demonstrate a genuine concern/interest for the welfare of students.
• Demonstrated communication skills, public relation skills, public speaking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure and the ability to proactively meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of student development and academic success.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student and staff population.
• Experience with administrative functions of a residence hall or apartment complex, such as working with budgets and occupancy.
• Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• Demonstrated commitment to and/or experience advocating for diversity.
