Radford University Director of Gift Planning in Radford, Virginia
Job Summary:
The Director of Gift Planning is a key leadership role within the University Advancement Team. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to secure legacy gifts such as bequests, trusts, annuities, and other deferred giving options. This position will work closely with donors, prospective donors, legal and financial advisors, as well as internal university stakeholders to ensure the successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of long-term funding relationships. The Director manages a portfolio of prospects and will work closely with the leadership of the College of Education and Human Development.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in major gift or annual giving fundraising.
Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate fundraising priorities.
Demonstrated ability to be be self-motivated, self-managed, and to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and have outstanding organizational abilities, good judgment, and strong ethics.
Proficiency in using a computer database and PC software.
Proven ability to build relationships.
Must demonstrate strong communication skills, written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to be a strategic thinker.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education
Experience with or exposure to estate planning, tax, law, accounting, wealth management, or financial services.
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software.
