Job Description:

ICF International’s Child Welfare and Education (CWE) division provides federal, State, and other clients with a wide range of technical assistance, research, and evaluation services. Our work focuses on important education policy issues; uses proven and innovative methods for delivering high-quality, timely technical assistance; seeks to inform education stakeholders of best practices; and involves working closely with clients to ensure that training and technical assistance support services are relevant, useful, and make a difference.

We are currently seeking a Research Assistant to work within Youth and Adult Education programs (YAE).  Primary responsibilities for this position will involve supporting project managers on a variety of education-focused projects.  As a Research Assistant, you will apply your academic knowledge and gain exposure to major projects surrounding the improvement of education systems and additionally to the Drug-Free Communities National Evaluation. Research Assistants will contribute to the development of innovative, high quality products and services in support of multiple projects and clients. Research Assistants at ICF often advance in our consulting practice or enroll in outstanding graduate programs around the country, making this an excellent opportunity for new or recent graduates.   The position is full-time and based at ICF’s headquarters office in Reston , Virginia as a hybrid employee .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support evaluation (research) activities, including reviewing literature, instrument development, data collection and analysis, and site visit support.

  • Create simple data visualizations and support staff use of data.

  • Assist in developing and preparing written reports and web products, training materials, user guides, or other deliverablesfor a variety of audiences.

  • Attend some on-site meetings in Virginia.

  • Manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

  • Support training and technical assistance activities for federal education and prevention initiatives.

  • Provide help desk technical assistance,including support to grantees in using a grantee data management system and fulfilling data collection requirements for the grant.

  • Provide webinar support including training material development and background system support (e.g., in Microsoft Teams).

  • Assist with conference and meeting planning tasks, including notetaking and reporting.

  • Support business development activities as requested.

  • Conduct usability testing on grantee facing data management systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree completion in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Public Policy, Public Health, or related discipline

  • 2+ years’ proficiency in MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • 1+ years' experiencecommunicating effectively about complex technical issues – by phone, email, meetings, webinars, and/or in-person presentations.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be able to successfully pass an extensive background investigation (Standard Form 86 - SF 86 will be required).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience conducting/writing literature reviews and writing annotated summaries of research.

  • Experience summarizing research data such as frequencies, means, and standard deviations.

  • Experience providing general project support, such as activity tracking, task coordination, and document formatting.

  • Experience developing online surveys and using survey software such as Qualtrics

  • Experience with data visualization (e.g., infographics, Tableau)

  • Proficient in other languages preferably Spanish

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$49,148.00 - $83,552.00
