ManpowerGroup Engineering Manager in Riverside, Missouri

Purpose:

Develop and implement cost effective manufacturing methods and processes utilizing people, materials, equipment, and information systems. This position involves the management of the following areas of the plant: manufacturing/industrial engineering, plant/facilities maintenance, information systems, and ISO 14001 compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead specification, procurement, development, installation, and implementation of production equipment and process related systems within the plant.

  • Ensure departmental procedures are utilized and followed.

  • Lead ISO 14001 efforts for continual plant compliance. This includes maintaining appropriate documentation and managing the ISO 14001 Cross Functional Team.

  • Support/lead continuous improvement efforts within the plant in terms of production/labor efficiency, quality, 5s, ergonomics, health/safety, and environmental issues.

  • Provide engineering or maintenance assistance for customer related issues.

  • Actively support plant launch activities including processing equipment, conveyor systems, and information systems needs.

  • Manage budget of maintenance, engineering, and information systems departments.

  • Forecasting and formalization of profit plans and yearly budgets.

  • Actively support plant safety efforts through departmental participation in weekly safety meetings and safety walks.

  • Manage plant related engineering and maintenance projects.

  • Maintain production downtime information relating to plant equipment and ensure monthly downtime goals are established and met.

  • Maintain monthly utility and waste tracking information and ensure improvement goals are established and met.

  • Ensure DSSI compliance for purchasing functions within the maintenance, engineering, and information systems departments.

  • Ensure proper communication channels are followed when process changes are made within plant.

  • Provide/lead problem solving efforts within plant relating to quality, equipment, health/safety, environmental, and production issues.

  • Mentor maintenance supervision with PLC programming efforts.

  • Support Rolled Throughput Yield data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Manage cost reduction efforts and projects associated with purchased burden improvements, Six Sigma, VA/VE, and labor efficiencies.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Plant Manager and/or Operation Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise the team members in the Engineering, Maintenance, and Information Systems Department.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, or electrical) and 6-10 years engineering experience, with 2-5 years supervisory/managerial experience. Must be able to understand PLC logic and the application to the production process.
