THE POSITION

Senior Staff Development Engineer, ContiTech North America, Inc., Rochester Hills, MI:

Business development providing technical support and consultation to the assigned customer or group of customers regarding Thermal Solutions Products, as well as supporting them in finding specific solutions within ContiTech product portfolio. Support Sales Organization in explaining technical details of offers during business development and request for quote process. Support the Purchasing and SQE teams in supplier development for RFQ process and product development. Creation and tracking of product development timing plans to achieve customer milestones for assigned projects. Determining future customer needs and feeding this information back to the R&D group to ensure Contitech's readiness for future projects, as well as supporting Customers and Operations teams through participation in cost reduction projects. Evaluating the feasibility of customer requirements as part of business development in PLC G10-G30, as well as negotiation of customers technical specifications ensuring they can be fulfilled. Creating Design Validation Plans and overseeing their completion to confirm product conformance with customer characteristics, as well as to ensure the portfolio is qualified to receive new RFQs from the customer. Developing design concepts, proposal and solutions and presenting them to the customer. Coordination of 3D modeling and 2D drawing in close cooperation with AE engineers/managers, with focus on capturing customer specific characteristics.

Creating project specific D-FMEAs from the generic D-FMEA template for assigned projects, as well as supporting Operations about P-FMEAS for general projects of TS Products. Assisting in the training and development of all members of the global Application Engineering team as well as assisting in headcount and budget planning for the different AE locations based on future customer needs.

Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressive, related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Designing automotive air conditioning and heating cooling lines as well as thermal management systems following design guidelines;
  • Using APQP process to develop, validate, release and launch a product which meets automotive industry regulatory standards;
  • The automotive industry, specifically serving as a technical contact for customers and working with cross-functional teams involved in hose assemblies manufacturing processes; and
  • Ensuring products adhere to performance requirements under GMW14319, GMW16295, GMW18152 and GMW18165.

Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:

Using Siemens NX or CATIA CAD software to design fluid lines for air conditioning, heating and cooling;

Using software to manage design files, 3D models and drawings detailing automotive part materials and dimensions;

Using D/PFMEA to design automotive parts that meet performance requirements; and

Managing teams and projects within the automotive industry.<
