Description

  • The Server Administrator will work onsite within a team environment. You will be responsible for provision, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems for a government agency.

Duties

  • Support clients by resolving complex system errors.

  • Perform computer functions to include: planning, integration, and verification for IT systems.

  • Recommend system configuration solutions and provide support to the web development team.

  • Draft system administrator manuals and maintenance service plans as resource articles.

  • Working with information security team to remediate issues.

  • Decommission and rebuild physical and virtual servers.

  • Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Install and configure systems such as GIS infrastructure or asset management applications.

  • Develop technical articles regarding installation and configuration procedures.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verification, and integrity tests.

  • Build scripts to automate backups, data migration and software updates.

  • Ensure file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.

  • Recover software, hardware and digital files and recycle in accordance with policies.

  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.

  • Repair hardware or recover software failures and coordinate with impacted constituencies.

  • Apply OS patching and upgrades on a regular basis.

  • Upgrade administrative tools and configure new services as necessary.

  • Conduct performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.

  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions.

Additional

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

  • Experience performing systems administration functions

  • Windows System Administration

Aptitude

  • Comfortable with system administration.

  • Server migration experience or exposure.

  • Experience configuring mail systems, printers, and installing 3rd party software.

  • Understanding of security fundamentals and network protocols.

  • Familiarity with high-level, Active Directory Services.

  • Hands with SCCM/InTune.

  • Experience developing custom ad hoc SQL queries for SCCM data analysis.

  • Solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems.

  • Understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and device drivers.

  • Knowledge of file system concepts such as clustering and logical partitions.

  • Fundamental with networking/distributed computing environment concepts.

  • Knows the principles of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts.

  • Ability to write administrative languages such as Bash, Python, Linux, PowerShell or VBScript.

  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and system security processes.

Work Environment

  • Onsite 5x per week

  • Government

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday.

  • 1st shift hours.

  • Saturday & Sunday Off.

  • Federal Holidays Off.

Expected Start Date

Compliance Requirements

  • Drug Test Required; Background Check Required.

  • CompTIA Security+ Certification required- Reimbursement assistance provided, if passed.

  • Will interview without CompTIA Security+ certification.

  • Interim Secret Clearance-Financed by agency, no out of pocket cost.
