Job Description: The Boiler Service Apprenticeship provides the trainee with up to five years of training. The apprentice will perform duties and gain training under an experienced Boiler Service Technician. The apprentice will report to the Associate Service Manager. Additionally, the apprentice will provide assistance and support to the service team through use of a "Hands-On" mechanical ability, willingness to learn, awareness and practice of safety and good communication skills.

The apprentice must learn to: Service, diagnose, repair/replace malfunctioning components and equipment, adjust and maintain boiler systems, burners and combustion systems, and ancillary equipment used in industrial/commercial boiler systems and fuel fired process heating applications.

Key Areas of Responsibility: The apprentice will be required to pass progress assessments and undergo evaluations while being assigned progressively more responsible duties. -Assist Service Technician with routine service calls and scheduled equipment maintenance -Opening, cleaning and preparing boilers as needed and for state required jurisdictional inspections -Safety awareness including completion of safety training programs -Performance of routine maintenance related to boiler and combustion systems -Performance of annual ASME CSD-1 testing -Ensure safe operation of equipment within limits established by the equipment manufacturer via monitoring meters, gauges, and computerized controls -Check safety devices and operating controls, record data, and identify potential problems
