Certifications/Qualifications:

NY State Certified in Special Education/Students w/ Disabilities (K-6), Reading certification preferred

Candidates Expectations:

• Experience teaching/working in an elementary school setting

• Comfortable working with students who struggle with emotional regulation and behavior management

• Strong understanding of behavorial interventions and support

• Provides research-b ased specialized instructi on to address the instructional goals within each student’s IEP

• Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques

• Utilizes various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals

• Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students

• Creates a positive learning experience with an emphasis in individualized instruction

• Provides direction to educational Teaching Assistants

• Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect

• Collaborates and consults with educational professionals regarding the needs of students;

• Builds positive and collaborative working relationships with all

• Positive attitude towards learning and practices patience with all students, families, and colleagues
