Northrop Grumman Threat Modeling Allocation Specialist 2 in Schriever AFB, Colorado

The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA's Missile Defense System. The TMC Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist is the Missile Defense Agency's subject matter expert responsible for performing red team targeteering and weaponeering of adversary systems against US and Allied assets.

The Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist is responsible for the development of simulations of intelligence credible threat missile attacks against US and Coalition forces. The Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist must have an understanding of each threat country's differing capabilities, preferred Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and strategic objectives for any given scenario and be able to apply these capabilities to the specific scenario.

The Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist functions as the threat targeteer and from the adversary's perspective assigns a missile from that country's Order of Battle against specific targets, and then functions as the threat weaponeer, assigning a specific warhead to each missile used in the attack to achieve the scenario's training or engineering objective. The Threat Modeling and Allocation process results in an end-to-end threat attack laydown file that is modeled by the TMC, providing the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories. This is provided to US missile defense activities and select foreign countries for use in their simulations to analyze missile defense system performance and effectiveness. A function of the Threat Allocation Specialist is to help review customer scenario requests and provide feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins. The Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist must review the final document to ensure the customer's objectives were met and the high resolution data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the Threat Modeling Center. In addition, the Threat Modeling and Allocation Specialist will at times represent the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) in support of various Missile Defense Scenario Design Working Groups and other scenario design meetings.

This position is located on-site at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates without current Secret clearance cannot be considered.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years experience.

  • Current DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI

  • Must have strong proficiency on Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software and directory structure configuration management

  • Must have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in performing red team targeteering and weaponeering of adversary systems

  • Knowledge of the latest intelligence provided by national intelligence community mission partners, to include such diverse information as missile systems inventories, launch locations and targets

  • Experience working with DIA Intelligence Centers, including NASIC, MSIC, NGIC and/or ONI

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI

Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
