Job Description: Perkins Coie is looking for a dynamic, qualified individual to take on the Media Relations Manager role to support a wide range of firmwide media and public relations activities on a daily basis that help to promote and protect Perkins Coie's brand and reputation as a leading law firm to the technology sector and many Fortune 500 companies. Working closely with the Head of Media Relations, the Social Media Manager, and with staff across the Marketing Group, the successful candidate will support proactive and reactive outreach and responses to legal and business media, write and edit a wide array of media relations content and messaging, and provide an outstanding level of service to practice chairs, office managing partners, firm lawyers, and other internal clients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Draft, edit, and proofread press releases, media pitches, firm and lawyer award nominations, and other types of firm announcements and media-related content. Use the Writer AI program to enhance and streamline these responsibilities. Coordinate review of press releases, media, and other communications materials with a wide array of internal stakeholders, including practice chairs, office managing partners, firm partners, DEI, recruitment and talent, business professionals, editors, conflicts, website, and social media teams, as well as communications, marketing, and design teams. Help coordinate and respond to daily media inquiries, including preparing practice chairs and partners for media interviews, drafting messaging bullets and background data points, and providing reporter bios. Develop close working relationships with media important to the firm and ensure that reporters obtain accurate information and data points about Perkins Coie and the firm's work. Manage press release and lawyer-authored article calendar and tracker, as well as an extensive firmwide calendar of award and nomination opportunities. Coordinate with marketing advisors on upcoming award and nomination deadlines. Manage submission of the firm's annual Law360 survey. Monitor and report on daily and monthly media coverage and competitor analysis through the use of a media monitoring platform. Leverage the platform's data to analyze the effectiveness of media engagement and how to improve media coverage. Run custom news and legal case reports and searches on the platform as needed for partners. Help compile a monthly media metrics and competitor analysis report for the Marketing Leadership Team. Work closely with the Head of Media Relations, Social Media Manager, marketing advisors, and outside PR firms to manage, prioritize, and respond to daily media requests and advance broader communications programs and priorities. This position may require occasional travel. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Experience in managing and developing trusted relationships with reporters, producers, and editors across legal and business media. Excellent writing ability and grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills; ability to draft and proof high-quality communications and content to short deadlines for external audiences. Familiarity with a generative AI program like Writer a plus. Able to maintain various calendars and trackers. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to establish effective and trusting working relationships and to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and courteous manner. Proficient in MS Office Products (Microsoft Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and media monitoring platforms.
