Amazon PR Specialist, GCIMR, Corporate Workplace in Seattle, Washington

Description

We’re seeking a highly intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated, and creative communications professional to join our Global Corporate Issues and Media Relations (GCIMR) team as part of the corporate workplace portfolio. This role is responsible for reactive external PR around the safety and security of corporate employees and the intersection of our workplace with emerging trends and technologies, and will work closely with a set of business stakeholders and communications colleagues to identify, mitigate, and manage potential reputational issues that impact these important areas.

While ideally this individual would be based in Amazon’s headquarters in either Seattle, WA, or Arlington, VA, or our hub in Nashville, TN, consideration will also be given to internal candidates in any of the approved GCCI hub offices. To be successful in this role, the right candidate will have solid media relations acumen for reactive issues, an ability to synthesize complex programs into digestible external communications programs, the ability to work at internet-speed, a curious mindset to understand how their customers operate and where there is opportunity to influence, and a talent for collaboration with various levels of the organization and across functions. This individual will have experience delivering results with high standards under tight deadlines, strong written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional initiative. Solutions-mindset, flexibility, and a positive attitude are a must.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Manage reporter inquiries and represent Amazon's perspective in press coverage

  2. Work with stakeholders to mitigate emerging issues

  3. Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with internal customers to anticipate potential reputational headwinds

  4. Contribute to larger team- and org-wide goals

A day in the life

No two days are the same in this role, which handles reactive media exclusively. In any given day, you'll work with each of your partner and stakeholder teams to drive outcomes that make Amazon an even better corporate citizen and employer.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Issues management/reactive PR

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $147,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
