The Philanthropic Recognition Programs team has an exciting opportunity for a Recognition Programs Specialist. This is a full-time, 9-month temporary appointment.

The Recognition Programs Specialist will support central Advancement’s Philanthropic Recognition Programs (PRP) team by working across several programs and teams to help bring donors closer to the University by communicating the impact they have through their generosity.

The ideal candidate will be an adaptable professional with project management skills and a collaborative spirit, capable of managing programs that involve direct communication with donors and coordinating across other UW departments.

What You Will Do: Weekly Cumulative Giving Recognition – 70%

  • Coordinate with Frontline Fundraisers and other stakeholders to customize communication and recognition plans for new donors.

  • Draft and mail communications to new donors and honorees.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of recognition program activities and communications in the constituent relationship management (CRM) database.

  • Communicate with donors and respond to their questions as they arise. Coordinate Special Event & Gift Recognition – 25%

  • Prepare recognition awards and courtesies and maintain the budget projections for these program components.

  • Help coordinate donor recognition in public spaces.

  • Provide support for the annual Recognition Gala, including reviewing guest lists and recognition materials, coordinating seating arrangement and other guest services. Other duties as assigned – 5% What You Bring:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations, exercise good judgment based on information and analysis in a fast paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

  • Knowledge of alumni relations/development/advancement principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with experience building special reports, spreadsheets, databases and forms.

  • Reliable transportation for local travel.

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit, donor relations, advancement, philanthropy or related field. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Can Expect:
