Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Facilities Electrical Technician to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. This position possesses a high-level skill set in industrial electrical systems. The position allows a candidate to work on all medium voltage electrical systems in a semiconductor facility. The skill level for this position requires an individual to work independently on complicated equipment and systems with minimal instruction and direction. This position is responsible for the preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance and repairs of the electrical systems of associated facilities equipment.
The Day-to-Day:
Lighting maintenance- lamps, ballasts, fixture replacement etc.
Wiring motors
Troubleshooting electrical issues related to VFD’s, MCC’s, motors, and controls
Replace devices such as breakers, switches, and receptacles.
Proficiency with computers and software to include Microsoft Office suite of products and SCADA.
Inspect and Troubleshoot transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
Must have a highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent
Must have a Journeyman Electrician's certificate, Master electrician, or received military equivalent training
5 years of experience as an electrical technician performing electrical repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, installation on HVAC/R, mechanical devices, facility electrical infrastructure, drives, PLCs in a manufacturing environment. This can be a combination of relatable degree, military training, certifications paired with experience
Must be trained in grounding and bonding of medium voltage systems and equipment test procedures and requirements for AC cable terminations.
Understand common requirements for medium/High voltage power switchgear rated above 1,000 V as well as NFPA 70E Safety Regulations when servicing and maintaining medium-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers rated above 1,000 V and voltage ratings, Insulation Ratings, 100%, 133%, 173% insulation levels shielding requirements, electric fields, terminating MV conductors, orientation of overhead lines.
Ability to read electrical schematics and familiar with medium voltage up to 34,500v and have experience with AC/DC current 120VAC to 480V
Demonstrate an understanding of Arc Flash hazard boundaries and appropriate PPE per Arch Flash Calculations.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, climb ladders to work at heights, and confined spaces, around machinery and moving parts
Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists, includes standing or walking over hard concrete surface, and climbing ladders
This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations
