We are looking for a Facilities Mechanic interested in starting a SWEET career as part of our Maintenance team at PIM’s Pierce Plant in Somerset, NJ .

JOB OVERVIEW

Ensures the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures and programs, which will assure well-maintained building facilities with an emphasis on positive response to the concerns and needs of operations, environmental health and safety, and quality programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, layout, and perform a wide variety of general maintenance duties including electric, mechanical, millwright, carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance of buildings and equipment.

• Duties and responsibilities require a familiarity and knowledge of several trades enough to efficiently manage installations, repairs, or other maintenance services

• Report food safety and quality issues to Plant management and SQFP

• Follow PIM Brands GMP rules

• Monitor fellow employees for adherence to GMP’s.

• Work with automated equipment to maintain any system or process with the understanding of manufacturing production requirements

• Must have a thorough working knowledge of electricity, be able to read schematics, troubleshoot electrical control systems, and have working knowledge HVAC systems.

• Available 24 / 7 for emergency situations and critical off-hours maintenance shutdowns and repairs

• Prioritize the workload and use outside resources when applicable.

• Lays out, designs, and manages project type work

• Coordinates time of repairs with other departments to help prepare for work in advance

• Facility and grounds upkeep including seasonal buildings and grounds maintenance

• Performs building inspections to identify necessary repairs

• Promotes safety, OSHA regulatory compliance for all locations

• Ability to work additional hours as needed

• Ability to travel to assist in all 5 locations

Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job will generally be performed in the manufacturing plant. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• High School education or equivalent is strongly preferred, trade school experience is preferred.

• 5 years of building maintenance and facilities experience.

• Proficiency with circular saws, drills, hammer drills, cutters, grinders and basic hand tools.

• Hands on experience in electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and overall general building maintenance.

• Experience installing pipes and ducts.

• Math and computer skills are required. - Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

• Wiliness to be trained and assist in other areas as needed.
