The Role

Are you a dynamic and visionary leader with a passion for people management and development? Do you have a strong technical background within the shipbuilding industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Chapter Lead within the Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding! As part of our new agile project based structure this is a brand new role instrumental in leading the chapter through the cultural change.

The Chapter Lead reports to the VP Shipbuilding Resource Group and is the line manager for all chapter members regardless of which project they support across the organisation. You will provide leadership and support for every member's personal and professional development, whilst also being part of the team with hands-on work for up to 20% of your time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Foster an inclusive culture and ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, seek continuous learning for self & others. Demonstrate Culture Essentials, promote psychological safety, and inspire others. Promote collaboration and innovation, encourage everyone to share ideas and work together on creative solutions. Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish clear and achievable goals for the chapter and organise resource allocation of chapter members to projects.

  • Building Partnership: Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and implement strategic goals for the chapter within the shipbuilding division. Develop and execute plans to drive excellence in both technical and people-related aspects.

  • Resource Management: Take ownership of recruitment and line management for all chapter members responsible for their personal development, performance cycle activities and coaching. Manage chapter resources, including budget, equipment, and ways of working, to ensure optimal utilization and efficiency.

  • Continuous Improvement: Provide strategic advice and work in partnership with others across the business to strive for continuous improvement through best practices and setting strategic goals. Promote & encourage cross- knowledge sharing between chapter members and across chapters where appropriate. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and implement necessary changes.

Our role categories range from CCS15 (entry level) to CCS01 (Senior Vice President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CCS04 and is offered on a full time, permanent/ basis.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Proven leadership experience in people management, development, and technical roles within the shipbuilding industry.

  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes, technologies, and industry best practices.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team-building skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and implement effective plans.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge of the industry or community the chapter represents.

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture
