Whitworth University Video, Photo & Social Media Specialist in Spokane, Washington

Position Summary Whitworth University is seeking a talented and creative individual to join our Marketing Communications (MarCom) team as a Video, Photo & Social Media Specialist. This role will be instrumental in capturing the essence of campus life through engaging videos and photographs while also supporting the university's social media presence. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for visual storytelling, strong technical skills in videography and photography, and a passion for higher education marketing.

*Core Responsibilities *[Video and Photo Content | 75%]{.underline}

  • Capture daily elements of campus life through videos and photos.
  • Attend and cover select university events.
  • Organize, schedule, and conduct dedicated video and photo shoots.
  • Produce videos for use online and at university events.
  • Work closely with the associate director of media relations and other marcom team members to ensure videos are aligned with the university brand and strategic goals.
  • Select, edit, and format photos, ensuring they meet university standards and are ready for use across a variety of mediums, including print, web, and social media.
  • Manage and organize a digital media library, ensuring photo and video assets are appropriately labeled, categorized, and accessible to marcom staff and campus partners.
  • Coordinate the video and photo planning processes.
  • Storyboard and conceptualize with the marcom office and campus partners.

  • Work collaboratively with other marcom team members and campus partners to develop, plan, and post content to Whitworth's primary social media channels.
  • Monitor engagement on social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) to identify and promptly address questions and potential issues.
  • Gather, analyze, and provide quarterly reports about key user engagement metrics on Whitworth's social media channels. 
  • Assist campus partners with university-endorsed social media accounts.
  • Work closely with students to spearhead student-driven initiatives, managing student-generated content and student-run campaigns.

  • Arrange for release and liability forms, as needed.
  • Ensure copyright law is followed with both audio and visual content. Work with third parties to acquire licenses as necessary.

  • One or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premier, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and Illustrator). 
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends, , including digital storytelling trends.
  • Experience with audio and lighting equipment.
