Cabela's Sr Manager II Cybersecurity Engineering in Springfield, United States

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager II - Cybersecurity Engineering leads a team of managers, architects and engineers tasked with design, deployment, and operation of cybersecurity systems and solutions. This role requires adept skill at team building, trust establishing, and collaboration.

This role partners with other cybersecurity teams, as well as technology and business leaders throughout the company. This role facilitates the 3 year rolling cybersecurity roadmap by promoting research & development initiatives, driving full adoption and optimization of software & services, and leading effective service delivery.

This leader continuously develops subject matter expertise, both of the company’s evolving security posture and the cybersecurity landscape, to provide technical consultancy to the cybersecurity organization, and more broadly to other technology teams and business partners. This leader facilitates cross-functional project execution by supporting initiatives both at the business and cybersecurity levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Builds trust with team, peers, and technology & business partners from day one.

  • Facilitates engineering thought leadership to drive efficient and effective design (lead, not own, the conversation with the team).

  • Drives and matures engineering standards and practices.

  • Collaborates with security architect(s) to evolve and deliver rolling 3-year roadmap.

  • Collaborates with technology partners to ensure secure operation of all technology assets and services.

  • Collaborates with business partners to deliver effective solutions to ensure outfitters can deliver world-class service at all times, securely (lead the vision by learning the needs).

  • Vendor management, to include contract management with ‘owned’ vendors.

  • Serves as a key technical counsel to the Director of Cybersecurity.

  • Partners with the cybersecurity operations center (CSOC) to ensure appropriate visibility and management of company systems and services.

  • Partners with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) team to ensure risks to the business are appropriately identified and, where appropriate, aid in the design to mitigate the risks on the register.

  • Collaborates with key technology partners, vendors, and service delivery teams to deliver and maintain solutions in the field.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree

  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity

  • Certificate(s) or License(s): CISSP preferred

  • Years of experience: 15 years or more

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Collaborative leadership

  • Broad cybersecurity domain and concept knowledge

  • Cloud security and operations (Azure and GCP a plus)

  • DevSecOps skills and mindset (drive maturity of shift-left security in the business)

  • Vendor management

  • Contract negotiation and management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel, generally to company headquarters for collaboration with leadership and other teams

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular computer work and sitting.

  • Occasional standing and walking.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

  • Develops strategic direction, goals, plans and policies for an area of responsibility. Sets broad objectives and is accountable for overall results in respective area of responsibility. Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance. Requires high degree of independent judgment and problem solving of complex problems.
