Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$63,400.00 - $104,500.00

What Is the Opportunity?

The Legal Solutions Center is a specialized team within Business Insurance – Legal Services of non-attorney legal professionals who leverage people, process and technology to help achieve Legal Services' strategic priorities. The Legal Solutions Center works closely with attorneys and other departments across Legal Services on issues involving underwriting, product development, government relations, Enterprise litigation, corporate investments, contracts and cross-functional initiatives. As the Consultant, you will perform a variety of duties to assist attorneys and internal business partners. You are an experienced professional who can manage competing priorities with excellent attention to detail.

What Will You Do?

  • Collaborate with internal partners to understand business needs and utilize your subject matter expertise in Travelers’ internal BI systems to provide support and guidance (e.g., AART, eLibrary, Altered Terms Tool, Oden, Compliance Link).

  • Partner with internal business conducting research and drafting quality legal documents.

  • Collect required documentation for preparation of contracts or amendments.

  • Design and implement streamlined policies and procedures to increase workflow efficiencies and reduce costs.

  • Formulate appropriate legal searches and conduct moderately complex research in legal databases based on business need (e.g., case law).

  • Track, analyze, and report any pending legislation or case law that may affect business partners.

  • Assist in reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating of work and ensure consistent compliance with internal policies and practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Paralegal Certificate.

  • Five years working as a legal professional or related industry experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by proper use of grammar, spelling accuracy, vocabulary, and ability to convey complicated concepts and ideas.

  • Excellent technological aptitude with the ability to work within and navigate multiple systems including the Microsoft Suite, Document Management systems (iManage), Case Management systems (CounselLink) and Case Law Databases (Westlaw and Oden).

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively and prepare presentations for business partners and senior leaders.

  • Self-starter that takes initiative, works independently, takes personal responsibility, and handles cases with the utmost care and confidentiality.

  • Critical thinker with the ability to read and comprehend regulations and statutes, and research effectively.

  • Ability to use Agile methodology when managing projects.

  • Team player with the ability to work with various business segments such as other Legal Units, Underwriting, Risk Control, Service Centers and Distribution.

What is a Must Have?

  • Associate’s Degree or three years of experience as a paralegal, compliance professional or related industry experience.
