Catalent Pharma Solutions Sr. Maintenance Technician (Machinist/Electrician) in St. Petersburg, Florida

Monday - Friday: 8 hour shifts 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Sr. Maintenance Technician

St. Petersburg is our primary softgel development and manufacturing facility in North America with a capacity of 18 billion capsules per year. The featured RP Scherer softgel technology is a proven oral drug delivery solution to enhance bioavailability of poorly soluble Rx and OTC drug candidates. Non-gelatin based OptiShell® and Vegicaps® capsules expand the range of molecules into softgel, ideal for challenging fill formulation. I. Department Overview:

The Engineering department involves coordinating, planning, organizing, and managing the engineering and maintenance activities within the Business Unit group to ensure projects and routine tasks are on schedule and meeting expectations. Analyzes and evaluates production problems and processes to develop methods and equipment to improve plant operating efficiencies.

II. Basic Function:

  • Performs activities in support of the manufacturing operations including set-up, changeover, maintenance, and repair.

  • Utilizes mechanical and/or electrical skills to perform preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs to production and plant facility equipment autonomously.

  • Responsible for more complex and time critical mechanical / electrical equipment rebuilds, repairs and upgrades, manage and escort contractors/vendors.

  • Provide training support for equipment set-up, operation, and changeover.

  • Gain and maintain full operational knowledge of all equipment within STP Engineering, quality, and operations.

  • Likely to act as an informal resource and trainer for colleagues with less experience

  • Recognize and execute reporting criteria and escalation procedures, ensure information is communicated throughout organization in a timely manner, via, radio, teams, phone, or email.

  • Skilled and capable of completing repairs utilizing various skill sets: Welding, Electrical Wiring, Teflon Coating with direct supervision.

  • Proposes improvements to processes and methods.

  • Track, organize, and execute appropriate PM/CAL/CM (Blue Mountain) within assigned timeline with no supervision.

  • Support or own work orders for equipment activities. (Blue Mountain)

  • Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.

  • Ensure detailed inventory of spare parts for all assets are accurately maintained, guarantee parts are on hand for critical equipment. Documented in JDE/BMRAM.

  • Accurately analyze equipment schematics to identify replacement part numbers and submit purchase requests for emergency spare parts.

  • Applies a complete understanding of theories and principles for one's technical discipline.

  • Works independently on a broad range of difficult problems within established policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others – but is not a supervisor. Coach and mentor new technicians.

  • Provide training support for equipment set-up, operation, and changeover.

  • Required to read, understand, and follow GMP documents.

III. Specific Activities, and Responsibilities:

Machine Shop Focus Detail:

  • Responsible for more complex and time critical mechanical / electrical equipment rebuilds, repairs and upgrades

  • Uses trade knowledge and expertise to autonomously complete manual fabrication of critical equipment components

  • Skilled and capable of completing repairs utilizing various skill sets: Welding, CNC, Machining, Electrical Wiring, Teflon Coating with direct supervision

  • Plan, manage, coordinate and escort contractors/vendors

  • Works independently on a broad range of difficult problems within established policies, procedures, and practices

  • General understanding of how the equipment relates/interacts with the process and outputs

  • Completes assignments on time and facilitates the work activities of others;

  • Proposes and implements improvements to processes and methods to predict and mitigate risk.

  • Submit purchase requests for emergency spare parts

  • Coach and mentor new Machinists.

  • Manage Shop VMI Inventory

IV. Knowledge Requirements:

Education or Equivalent:

  • Associates degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; or High School diploma and 6+ years of relevant experience or technical or vocational training

  • Technical Certificate or higher preferred

  • Possesses advanced electrical and/or mechanical skills and education

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift to 50 pounds; no lifting greater than 40.09 pounds without assistance. Be accessible to manufacturing floor and office staff and use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen.

Work Environment:

Workstation is located in the machine shop.
