Meta Network Engineer, Operations & Support in Sterling, Virginia

Summary:

Meta is looking for a forward thinking Network Operations Engineer with a mix of technical and operations leadership & management skills in networking, business process engineering, compliance, and tooling/automation to join the Edge & Network Service Coordination (ENSC) team. This role will improve operations efficiency and reliability of one of the most dynamic, fast-paced networks in the world. The right candidate will be comfortable in a fast-moving organization and enjoy digging into operational problems in order to implement both the process enhancements and technical solutions to solve them. The right candidate will also be able to quickly learn and pick up new domain expertise and technologies. The primary focus of this team is to provide next-level coordination services in support of global field operations via site access, logistics, RMAs, and oversight, such as self-inspection, compliance, device & data safeguarding.

Required Skills:

Network Engineer, Operations & Support Responsibilities:

  1. Be a key Subject Matter Expert in operations management with focus on business process engineering, compliance, networking, and tooling/automation.

  2. Formulate the right metrics and definitions of success to report & drive quality, efficiency, cost, and timeliness, and evolve these over time to match changes to the infrastructure and business requirements.

  3. Develop operations process improvement plans and transform with partner teams the improvements to scalable and automated workflows by writing and reviewing the code to improve the operational efficiency.

  4. Perform deep dives on complex operations and technical issues across networks, such as business process defects, opportunities for automated tooling, operations compliance non-conformance, technical troubleshooting & resolving hardware failures and network issues.

  5. Anticipate potential operational risks and develop a mix of field support & oversight strategies (e.g., self-audit, compliance) to mitigate/minimize.

  6. Support detailed planning & management of all regulated controls throughout project lifecycles.

  7. Participate in and improve issue/event escalation and emergency response, including detailed after-actions-review to prevent future recurrences.

  8. Build cross-functional relationships and deliver results with partner teams (internally & externally) associated with all coordination and compliance issues, including vendors, contractors, and stakeholders/ partners.

  9. Be on-call to learn from & support real world operations & production challenges and take the lessons to improve current and future generation Coordination products & business processes.

  10. 15% of travel (domestic and international).

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 7+ years of experience with network operations and/or operations leadership while supporting large-scale operations in heterogeneous network environments.

  3. Experience working within a global team and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with limited supervision.

  4. Experience in implementing/maintaining the monitoring, alerting and repairing systems for production network in a DevOps environment.

  5. Experience/knowledge of BGP/OSPF, TCP/IP and IPv6.

  6. Organization/multitasking skills and experience to adapt to quickly-changing priorities with proven communication skills.

  1. MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

  2. Certificate(s) and/or demonstrated experience in (technical) operations management, compliance, auditing

  3. Knowledge of data-driven analysis and analytics applied to a full project lifecycle.

  4. Experience in providing technical & operations guidance to internal partners & external vendors.

  5. Familiarity with physical infrastructure design: rack elevations, cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, power/cooling, and facility infrastructure.

  6. Coding experience in Python, or a willingness to learn.

  7. Familiarity/experience with compliance frameworks & security-related standards (e.g., ISO, NIST)

  8. Familiarity/experience with authoring & managing against SOPs, MOPs, and Policies, and myriad technical and operations guidance, knowledge management

Public Compensation:

$132,000/year to $190,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
