Ford Motor Company Hardware Electrical Design Engineer in Sunrise, Florida

Are you an electrical engineer emphasizing digital hardware and power management design? We seek forward-thinking professionals to join our team working on advanced electronic modules for next-generation vehicles. The successful candidate will work with the design team to develop innovative new technologies from concept to production. Responsibilities include implementing circuits, including schematic and PCB layout, testing and validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. What you'll be able to do:

  • Design high speed digital and power management circuits to meet section requirements

  • Design circuits using industry standard schematic capture tools

  • PCB layout implementation of responsible subsection

  • Design complex high-speed signals that meet impedance requirements

  • Perform worst case analysis of circuits in area of responsibility

  • Generate documentation that defines processor pin assignments

  • Develop detailed design documents

  • Perform failure mode analysis and generate process documentation

  • Define stress test routines required to validate functional sections

  • Design communication links between the processor, other internal subsections, and external modules

  • Formulate test plans to ensure component level performance

  • Validate testing to ensure performance over temperature and voltage extremes

  • Root cause and resolve issues in assigned sections

  • Participate in system design reviews

  • Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing teams and with external component suppliers

  • Must be willing to travel occasionally

Our Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study

  • 3+ years of experience designing high-speed digital circuits

Our Preferred Requirements

  • Familiar with CAD tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Cadence Design Systems, etc.)

  • Familiar with automotive interfaces (e.g. CAN, LIN, etc.)

  • Experience in specialized, complex hardware and embedded software systems

  • Knowledgeable on microprocessors, solid state memory, cameras, displays and sensors

  • Working knowledge of industry-standard interfaces (e.g. LVDS, DDR, PCI, I2C, and Ethernet, etc.)

  • Sound hardware and software troubleshooting skills

  • Experience working with test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, temperature chambers, time-domain reflectometers, precision power meters, etc.)

  • Proficient in simulation tools for signal integrity and power management circuitry

  • Motivated and self-starter

  • Collaboration and leadership skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals (e.g. globally distributed teams, ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience, work with all levels of management and diverse work groups, etc.)
