Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston’s Human Resources Department is looking for either a Business Intelligence Analyst or a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. You will need to apply a user-centered approach to transform raw data into meaningful and useful information, enabling more effective, strategic, tactical, and operational insight and decision-making for our HR leadership and team. This role will focus on creating dashboards in Tableau software. You should either have experience doing this or achieving this with Microsoft’s Power BI. You will need to be a pro at creating SQL reports and assist clients in creating tools to analyze data from this data output. We prefer candidates who have worked in the Human Resources area and are familiar with the analytics of this department.

This is a full-time position that is classified as hybrid. You will not need to come into the office often, but there are times when you will need to meet with stakeholders or the human resources department staff. It is eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Analyze and make recommendations for project implementations and maintenance. Must understand the data available in applicable business systems and be able to write queries. Deliver recommendations, improvement plans, as well as training materials.

  2. Assist in the development and ongoing reporting of performance metrics and benchmarking, keeping our business leaders and key constituents informed of our progress toward business goals.

  3. Supports timely flow of business intelligence information to users by meeting deadlines and being responsive to requests.

  4. Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools. In addition, maintains excellent documentation of systems and report methodologies. Supports the maintenance of a library of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets.

  5. Communicate with internal customers, suppliers, and others to stay abreast of industry or business trends. In addition, use effective communication and problem-solving techniques to facilitate team performance.

  6. Conduct quality testing to ensure the accuracy of the data reported.

  7. Serves as a liaison between Management and Technology project teams.

  8. Other duties as needed.

Certification/Skills:

Experience defining metrics, dimensions, and KPI’s on Business Intelligence projects

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access

Strong critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and effectively with prudent judgment and discretion at all times.

Experience with Cognos, Oracle, and SQL database reporting tools

Experience in working with large volumes of data is preferred.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business or related field required.

Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years of system analysis, technical design, development and/or implementation experience, which includes 1 year of experience working with healthcare operations strongly preferred. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. The role is mostly remote, but there are times when being on-site is necessary.
