Amazon Senior Manager - S&OP, AMXL JP in Tokyo, Japan

Description

AMXL Japan is looking for a S&OP Leader with significant leadership experience and a strong track record of achieving results to own and execute network strategy, cross-functional operations and technology projects, and operational planning. You will lead programs and process improvements related to ensuring the very high level of customer experience that we expect to deliver through the efficient and accurate planning of the AMXL network. In this role, you will be responsible for hiring, developing and leading the AMXL JP S&OP team owning the creation and delivery of both the short term and long term strategy & planning for the Japanese Market. This role requires working with Amazon Retail Operations, Business Intelligence and Fulfillment Operations to define requirements, with Amazon Technology teams to implement software features and automation to enable the AMXL & S&OP Process and finally with operations leaders to deliver and review the final plan.

Operating with significant autonomy and discretion, you will drive the development of solutions to some of the company's most challenging business issues and help scale the network rapidly and safely with your strategy. You must be a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly, and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong and talented team. You possess superior domain expertise in your functional specialty, demonstrate strong written and verbal skills, strategic agility, and are be able to positively influence behaviors and subsequent outcomes in a very high growth environment where priorities can shift quickly. This position involves regular communication with senior management across the Amazon universe on status, risks, and change control. Cross team coordination, project management, document writing and executive presentation skills are essential.

Key job responsibilities

• Own the short term and long-term capacity planning cycles

• Demand planning, estimation & forecasting

• Influence Delivery Partner last mile recruitment strategy and ensure capacity is enough to meet demand and support upside in package demand while optimizing for cost, speed and service performance

• Have a long-term vision on building process to scale AMXL JP to a nationwide network with exceptional quality and customer obsession

• Build strong relationships with tech partners and influence the tech leaders to solve complex business problems by collaborating to build the right tech road map for the capacity planning team

• Interact with senior-level audiences (including directors and vice presidents) from both internal and external teams

• Invent new (and drive continuous improvement for) mechanisms that enable impact at scale - including processes, tools, procedures, and inspection points

• Effectively establish, prioritize and negotiate resources to unblock teams, increase the speed of delivery and manage critical escalations

• Make high judgement trade-off decisions (time vs. effort vs. features) between short-term and long-term needs when delivering results

• Display strong emotional and cultural intelligence when communicating across borders and disciplines with diverse needs

• Hire and develop your team with strong emotional and cultural intelligence

A day in the life

You lead and manage planning cycles and deep dive into key network metrics with reviews asking why frequently and repetitively. You spend time with cross-functional stakeholders and ops team to find ways to drive continuous improvement through mechanisms at scale and in turn, exceed our customer expectations. You write and review quality documents that seek to plan, inform, align or secure support from management and stakeholders for both our short and long term vision. You challenge the status quo and drive data based decision making with your team. You anticipate risks and challenges, ready to provide insight and solutions in order to mitigate. You are always ready to jump in and take full ownership to solve new problems to deliver bigger smiles for our customers.

AMXL JP team is a single threaded organization that owns Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network with our willing and equally customer obsessed partners, offering shipping, service & support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, standardized, and sustainable way that surprises and delights our customers. Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly and Recycling/Haul-Away.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence and program management that work closely and collaboratively across Amazon to constantly improve and scale our operations, always insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years of work experience

  • People management experience

  • Business level of written and spoken English

  • Comfortable with data tools and advanced modeling skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master's Degree

  • 15+ years of work experience

  • Consulting/ Supply Chain/ Planning Experience

  • Business level of Japanese

  • Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
