Oracle Principal User Assistance Developer in India

Job Description

Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user assistance and training documentation for Oracle applications. Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to design our next generation of user assistance technology and implementing new embedded help delivery mechanisms that improve how technical information is delivered to our customers. Work with development teams to implement code for new user assistance mechanisms.

  • Writes UA to guide users in adopting infrastructure innovations and new Cloud technologies implemented by Oracle EPM Cloud.

  • Works with the Development and Product Management teams to create new feature Readiness descriptions.

  • Develops documentation explaining the new infrastructure features to help users understand the benefit of using them.

  • Analyzes user requirements to evaluate the efficacy of documented procedures and makes timely updates.

  • Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

  • Uses new Redwood UX process to implement Redwood standards on the Infra team.

  • Addresses UA bugs with updates.

As a member of the User Assistance team, you will design, create, and deliver product documentation sets. Additionally, you will work closely with other User Assistance Developers and Development and Quality Assurance teams to ensure that user success. Duties and tasks are varied and complex and requires you to utilize independent judgment.

To be successful in this role, you must be fully competent in your own area of expertise. Additionally, you require a BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to the functional area along with a minimum of 10 years of user assistance development experience.

Responsibilities

Create user assistance for your assigned product, which may include training courses, certification exams, documentation, tutorials, videos, embedded help in UI, sample code, eBooks, infographics following user assistance development processes, templates, and standards using various tools and systems. This will include user assistance for conceptually complex areas, documenting the most technically challenging parts of the product(s) or product area(s). Lead discussions at user assistance and feature team meetings. Participate in preparation of design documents for major changes in user assistance and be responsible for detailed review of features and assignments to team. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop user assistance vision documents which detail the product use cases, common tasks, and user personas. Utilize multimedia technologies and techniques in enhancing the effectiveness of user assistance. Lead and drive cross-team or cross-LOB projects and initiatives. Organize, teach, facilitate, and observe pilots taught by more junior UA developers. Create support collateral for pilots where appropriate (wiki pages for course pilots). Develop, upgrade, and maintain basic, advanced, or new/emerging courses according to standards, using the latest tools. Contribute to design, coordination, and validation of major enhancements to user assistance practices, patterns, processes, and standards.

  • Review and edit customer-facing UI text – including messages, field labels, and tip text – to ensure that it helps users prevent mistakes and be successful

  • Write, create, and build

  • Design and write engaging, clear, and minimalist documentation that’s appropriate for software implementers, end users, and administrators

  • Using Oxygen, produce content that follows DITA standards and Oracle style standards, maintains a conversational voice, and requires minimal rework during the editing and review process

  • Make use of effective visual information design strategies to create visuals that aid understanding

  • Collaborate with a variety of groups - including Product Management, Development, Quality Engineering, and Support - to produce top-notch assets that support product rollout, use, and maintenance

  • Manage your time, own your work, and be our team’s face to the world

  • Manage your own user assistance and product review tasks and deliverables while working with global teams in a fast-paced development environment

  • Participate in development discussions and events

  • Represent the User Assistance Development team in a variety of cross-product teams and projects
