Role: R&D Senior Member of Technical Staff, Product Development

Location: Houston, TX (hybrid)

AVEVA Simulation & Learning team develops engineering solutions for our customers through our simulation product offerings that target the chemical, energy, sustainability, and oil & gas industries. AVEVA Dynamic Simulation Group is responsible for the worldwide delivery and support of Operator Training Simulators for Refineries and Chemical Plants. The primary software product is AVEVA Dynamic Simulation that is used to model various process equipment and train operators in plant operation.

The focus of this role is technical support. You will assist and mentor our customers in the use of AVEVA Dynamic Simulation. You will work with the R&D team to understand the innerworkings of the software to provide effective support.

Customer Support activities can include:

  • Working with the customer to ascertain sufficient details about their issue to allow it to be internally recreated

  • Configuring test systems to recreate reported issues

  • Solving the issue and working with the customer to realize a resolution

  • Capturing the solution within our database and create test cases for QA to add to the regression suite

  • When needed, debugging the code, like a developer to understand the root cause

  • When a software fix is needed, logging work items and collaborating with the developers and QA to produce a fix

  • Testing the hot fixes before delivering them to the customer along with relevant release notes

  • Assisting with testing of new releases of AVEVA Dynamic Simulation

  • Writing and reviewing technical documents related to AVEVA Dynamic Simulation

Qualifications

  • Formal training with a degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 5-10 years of experience in similar roles

  • Experienced user of AVEVA Dynamic Simulation or other similar OTS software

  • Experience in building and delivering Operator Training Simulators

  • Clear and effective communicator with our customers, our technology teams, and our senior leadership

  • Natural interest in analyzing and debugging technical issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with customer support

  • Programming skills in C++ and/or Java

Salary Range:

$101,000.00 - $197,500.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation that the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training.
